Info for TELEMANN & CO

Georg Philipp Telemann belongs to the auroral phases of the Enlightenment, a musician with an inexhaustible and perhaps unparalleled creative vein in terms of the breadth of his catalogue. Johann Michael Bohm was skilled in the violin as well as the flute and oboe; Johann Friedrich Fasch was a very industrious music craftsman, although reluctant to publish his own work, which appeared posthumously. The embarrassment that seizes some commentators is due primarily to little familiarity with the music included in this album, informed by a sound "individualism" and a systematic spirit, yes, but still little inclined to the rigid regularities that perhaps only the late-Romantic school imposed on the view of music.

Arianna Art Ensemble

Arianna Art Ensemble
The ensemble was founded in 2007 by the lutenist and composer Paolo Rigano and the harpsichordist Cinzia Guarino. It promotes the dissemination of the vocal and instrumental repertoire of the Renaissance and Baroque periods through its own performances on period instruments, the selection of correct historical performance practice and the rediscovery of unpublished manuscripts. The ensemble also promotes the testing and performance of contemporary music with period instruments. The members of the Arianna Art Ensemble also collaborate with various ensembles such as: Il Giardino Armonico, l'Accademia Bizantina, Concerto Italiano, Cappella Gabetta, Zefiro Ensemble, Modo Antiquo, La Chimera, Ensemble Elyma, Studio di Musica Antica Antonio Il Verso, the Baroque orchestra Les Elements and the Ensemble of Ancient Instruments of the Conservatorio Alessandro Scarlatti in Palermo. They have also made critically acclaimed recordings for several labels. The ensemble has won numerous prestigious competitions, including first prize in the “Old Instruments” section of the 7th National Art Prize organized by the Ministry of Higher Art Education in 2010.

With Giovanni Sollima he recently recorded the sonatas and symphonies of Giovanni Battista Costanzi for the Glossa label. In 2017 the ensemble published the unpublished manuscripts of the sacred works of Antonino Reggio, an 18th-century harpsichordist and composer born in Aci Catena. In 2021 he released the CD Cimbalu d'Amuri, a work inspired by 17th century Sicily, on the Almendra Music label. In 2022 he recorded the CD 'Musiche per arciliuto, chitarra e clavicembalo' (Music for archlute, guitar and harpsichord) for the Tactus record company, which was awarded 5 stars by the magazine Amadeus.
