does not shy away from challenging roles, having recently performed Lulu, Violetta, Konstanze, Rosina, Marilyn Monroe, and Susanna as well as roles like Pamina, Adele, Gretel, Lauretta, Clara in Porgy and Bess - Operetta roles like Adele, Laura in Bettelstudent, Julia de Weert in Der Vetter aus Dingsda - and even forays into the Broadway repertoire with lead roles in musicals like Kismet, Vivaldi the Musical, and Brigadoon and concert repertoire such as Carmina Burana, Beethoven 9, and Mozart's Exultate Jubilate.

Rebecca Nelsen's performance highlights include principal roles in the Bavarian State Opera, the Dresden Semperoper, the Salzburger Festspiele, the Vienna Volksoper, the Cologne Opera, La Fenice in Venice, the Glyndebourne Festival, the Leipzig Opera, the Perm Opera in Russia, Oper Angers/Nantes, the Malmö Opera, the Musikverein in Vienna, the MUPA in Budapest, and Severance Hall with the Cleveland Orchestra. ​

She has sung major roles with conductors Teodor Currentzis, Fabio Luisi, Myung-whun Chung, Stefan Soltesz, Alexander Joel, Peter Eötvös, Hans Graf, Julia Jones, Evan Rogister, Rafael Payare and Alfred Eschwé. ​

Rebecca just celebrated her successful debut at Opera Monte Carlo this season as Konstanze in Mozart's Die Enführung aus dem Serail and is looking forward to role debuts as Antonia in Offenbach's Les contes d'hoffmann and Erydike in Offenbach's Orpheus in der Unterwelt before the 18/19 season concludes. ​

Ms. Nelsen looks forward to the 19/20 season with major debuts in the Savonlinna Opera festival, the Grand Théâtre de Genève and a concert tour with the London Philharmonia Orchestra under the baton of Esa-Pekka Salonen performing the Lulu-Suite by Alban Berg and the role of Madame Silberklang in Mozart's Der Schauspieldirektor in venues like London Royal Festival Hall, the Philharmonie Luxembourg, the The National Music Auditorium in Madrid and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées as well as a full and rewarding season in her home house, the Vienna Volksoper, including a role debut as Hanna in Lehar's Die Lustige Witwe. ​
