Svetlana Marinchenko
is a jazz pianist from Moscow and studied in St. Petersburg with the famous pianist and teacher Andrei Kondakov. After first successes in Russia and participation in international festivals (Rajation Jazz Festival, Finland; Close Encounters, Finland; Jazz in Groningen, Netherlands) and recording her first album Present Simple, she moves to Munich in 2016 to study. In the same year, she wins the first prize at the Steinway Solo Pianist Competition. For 4 years Svetlana has been actively exploring the German jazz scene with her trio, playing in various clubs and festivals, winning the Kurt Maas Jazz Award and an internship at Berklee (Boston), as well as second place at the international pianist competition in Langnau (Switzerland) under the patronage of Aaron Goldberg. According to critics, Svetlana's playing combines elements of Russian classical and romanticism with a rhythmic pressure of jazz. Her playing is characterized by high energy, virtuosity and total dedication combined with songlike melodicism.
Niklas Lukassen
Bassist, composer and singer Niklas Lukassen lives in New York and Berlin and is a rising force in the international jazz scene with a special artistic signature. He holds a Masters’ degree from the Manhattan School of Music with a full scholarship under mentorship of Ron Carter. Niklas has collaborated with artists like Mike Stern, Joe Lovano, Oz Noy and Sean Wayland, and has toured Malaysia, China, England, Spain, Poland, Switzerland, Austria and the USA. He has received generous endorsements, such as the dedication of a "Niklas Lukassen Signature Bass Guitar Model" from "Merlos" (Spain, 2016).
Tobias Backhaus
is one of the most sought-after German jazz drummers par excellence. He studied with master drummers John Riley, Joey Baron, Keith Copeland and John Hollenbeck and holds a bachelor's degree in jazz performance from the University of the Arts in Berlin. He quickly made a name for himself in the German capital as a versatile and exciting musical accompanist and has been an important part of the contemporary European jazz scene for more than a decade. Tobias regularly works with internationally renowned jazz artists such as Till Brönner, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Tony Lakatos, Torsten de Winkel, Carlos Bica, Gwilym Simcock, Jiggs Whigham, Rick Margitza, Peter Weniger, Frank Chastenier and Ack van Rooyen.
