Info for Colourfish
Saxophonist Peter Weniger and keyboardist Hubert Nuss are ‘together again’! While both have enjoyed great recognition as solo artists, their long-standing bond and inspiring friendship have remained strong. Since their first duo album, ‘Private Concert’, released in 1991, they have been together regularly, sometimes as a duo, sometimes as a trio, and also as sidemen in each other's projects – always as a creative part of the respective creative act.
On their album, due for release in 2026, they once again engage in intimate dialogue, floating on atmospheric, mysterious electronic soundscapes over mountains, roaming magical landscapes, patiently searching for the less trodden paths and always choosing the right way. What they discover, observe attentively and collect along the way on their friendly and familiar musical walks serves as material for the two masterful instrumentalists to play with: they virtuosically immerse melodies, harmonies and sounds in magical timbres, letting them sparkle and shine.

Peter Weniger
born in 1964, is a versatile saxophonist, composer and producer whose musical activities span various genres with renowned artists both nationally and internationally. Guided by the philosophy of ‘being part in the act of creation’, Weniger's work is characterised by great emotional depth and brilliant virtuosity. His focus on rhythm, melody, harmony and sound enables him to seamlessly combine the old with the new and to constantly explore innovative paths in music. In addition to his roles as composer and bandleader, Weniger is also a respected jazz educator who actively contributes to workshops at home and abroad. With numerous awards, honours and extensive touring, his musical integrity is widely recognised. He has been a professor at the Berlin University of the Arts since October 1999, and from 2005 to 2019 he held the position of artistic director at the internationally renowned Jazz Institute Berlin.
Throughout his career, Weniger has collaborated and toured with an impressive array of artists and ensembles, including Jasper van't Hof's ‘Pili Pili’, Billy Cobham, Maceo Parker, Eddie Palmieri, Lionel Richie, Django Bates, Mike Stern, Leni Stern, Samuel Torres, Martin Wind, David Friedman, Hubert Nuss, Peter Herbolzheimer's RC&B and various ARD big bands from SWR, HR, NDR and WDR.
Hubert Nuss
is repeatedly praised by jazz critics for the ‘beauty’ of his recordings – using precisely this word, which is difficult to define but always makes a strong statement.
These qualities are consistent in Hubert Nuss. The pianist's harmonic diversity and Messiaen-like colours are characteristic. Hubert Nuss has contributed to over 60 CDs as a jazz pianist. In 2008, he was awarded the WDR Jazz Prize for Improvisation. In 2012, he was nominated for the German Music Authors' Prize by GEMA. Since 2018, he has also been professor of jazz piano at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts. He can be heard regularly in various ensembles with Wolfgang Haffner, Paul Heller/Ack van Rooyen and Peter Weniger.
