Info for Puccini: Tosca
The Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and their Principal Conductor Daniel Harding release another preview track from their upcoming album, on which they perform Puccini's dramatic opera Tosca together with a number of artists.
The production not only honours the Puccini anniversary, but also marks Harding's official debut as the orchestra's Principal Conductor and the first time he has conducted the opera. With a stellar cast on board, led by star tenor Jonathan Tetelman and soprano Eleonora Buratto as the ill-fated lover, their performance of Tosca is a worthy tribute to Puccini in the year of the 100th anniversary of his death. They were accompanied by French baritone Ludovic Tézier, who sings Baron Scarpia, the brutal police chief who becomes the lovers' undoing. The experienced singers evoked the drama of an opera performed as a concert, emphasising even the most minimal vocal and orchestral nuances - every detail of Puccini's fantastic composition can be heard.
‘His Cavaradossi is as yearning and heroic as you could wish for.’ (BBC Music Magazine)
