Info for GLINTSAL (VOL. 1)

With GLINTSAL, rapper/singer Glints and producer/dj FAISAL AKA joined forces for their first joint album that brings out the best in both of them.

GLINTSAL (VOL 1) is a collaboration between Antwerp rapper Glints, stage name of Jan Lemmens, and producer Faisal. Over the past six months, we have been treated to several singles from the new project, which have been well received by fans. Today, after a long wait, the full album was finally released. The album's release was accompanied by a very creative promotional campaign. The musical duo released a manga and appeared on their social media accounts as anime characters.

The singles we received earlier were already very strong. “Get U What U Want” in particular is a powerful track. Previously released songs included “All Blue Hair” and “JFK”, which already demonstrated the duo's quality. The album is also characterised by Faisal's fantastic production. It opens with ‘Ooh Little Mama’, which consists of two musical parts. It starts with an up-tempo part that suddenly slows down while the listener hears the cassette changing. The previously released relaxed single ‘Blue Hair’ gets better with every listen and is slowly becoming a favourite. ‘Shitty Day’ is the highlight and beautifully showcases the genius of the Glintsal duo.

The album is remarkably short, with a playing time of 23 minutes spread over 8 tracks, but every minute is perfectly filled. The album shows that Glints is a name to be reckoned with in the Belgian hip-hop scene. With this album, Glints continues to grow in quality and has not yet reached his peak. Faisal, on the other hand, proves that he is an excellent producer who can add even more colour to the rapper's songs. The album is a gem of Belgian hip hop, which will hopefully be followed by a sequel.

GLINTSAL
Together the soul brothers with British and Moroccan backgrounds respectively have been presenting Abattoir Anvers, the only hip-hop show on Belgian national radio (Studio Brussel), for about 4 years. Both are members of the eponymous Antwerp collective Abattoir Anvers (which also includes Yong Yello, among others) that was founded in a former halal slaughterhouse where the gentlemen lived, worked and made radio. Back in 2020, the duo released their debut single “Some Time Alone”, which made it clear that their musical collaboration should also be explored further. So when the stars aligned (and their schedules allowed), they crawled straight into the studio, resulting in GLINTSAL 1: an album full of back-to-back bangers with influences ranging from Anderson Paak. and Dilla and all the way back to The Beatles, to Daft Punk. After conquering Eurosonic in January and being nominated for five MIA's, the duo is ready for the big festival stages.

This album contains no booklet.
