Info for In Motion

Energetic live band with good blend of melody and carefree wildness: With a playful interplay and an energetic presence, Bliss Quintet has established itself as a unified force in the Norwegian jazz scene. Dramatic and sentimental ballads, catchy fanfare-like horn riffs, complex rhythms, and open harmonic landscapes are central elements of the band’s musical expression. All of this is carefully maintained in the band’s sound, with a strong focus on playful interaction, wild and energetic in-the-moment expression, and elements of free improvisation in line with acclaimed Nordic bands such as Atomic and Masqualero.

Bliss Quintet releases their 4th album "In Motion". With a nuanced sound in which new elements such as synthesizers and flutes have emerged. Together, they preserve their characteristic driving expression and raw energy, while also daring to take the listener into collectively searching passages.

Bliss Quintet:
Oscar Andreas Haug, trumpet
Zakarias Meyer Øverli, saxophone
Benjamín Gísli Einarsson, piano
Gard Kronborg, bass
Rino Sivathas, drums

Bliss Quintet
With a playful interaction and energetic presence, BLISS Quintet has quickly established itself as a forward-thinking band within the Norwegian jazz community, following in the footsteps of respected bands such as Atomic and Masqualero. They released their first album, “Dramaqueen” on Jazzland Recordings in Spring 2022. The album received critical acclaim, with Selwyn Harris of Jazzwise (UK) naming the quintet as an “impressive-sounding young Norwegian band for the future”. The band embarked on a successful tour in support of the album, playing at venues and festivals across Norway, and winning the 7Virtual Jazz Competition with the title track “Dramaqueen”. Their victory in the competition led to even more opportunities for the band and they will play in Italy, Denmark and at Jazzahead in spring 2023. The band is set to release a new album in the autumn of 2023 on Jazzland Recordings followed by a tour in Norway and Europe.
