Info for Un Imprevisto È La Sola Speranza
During the course of the years Giuseppe has written for and performed with a wide variety of groups, ranging from small settings to large ensembles.
“Giuseppe Campisi exemplifies an ideal blend of a wonderful musician, exceptional composer and magnificent bass player. This ensemble epitomizes to me what we would like to define as European jazz. With strong roots in jazz traditional music this band manages to convey their own personal influences, resulting in an exciting, musical and intellectual album - and a pleasure to listen to.” (Yaniv Nachum, Conservatorium van Amsterdam)

Giuseppe Campisi
Acoustic and electric bass player, composer and arranger Giuseppe Campisi grew up in the beautiful Mediterranean island of Sicily, where he developed his passion for music from a young age, and currently lives in Barcelona (Catalonia).
During the course of the years Giuseppe – who has earned a degree Magna Cum Laude in Jazz Composition at Berklee College of Music as well as a master in Jazz Performance at the Conservatorium Van Amsterdam - has written for and performed with a wide variety of groups, ranging from small settings to large ensembles and working actively both as a sideman and as a leader of his own projects.
He has performed in major festivals and venues, including Umbria Jazz, Umbria Jazz Winter, Bimhuis, Red Light Jazz Fest, Amersfoort Jazz Festival, Grachtenfestival, Catania Jazz, Bflat, International Festival du Luth à Tétouan, Flamenco Biënnale, Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ (…) and he has performed and recorded in Europe and in the United States with artists like George Garzone, Bob Moses, Dick Oatts, Ben Van Gelder, Marcello Pellitteri, Jasper Blom, Jesse van Ruller, Michael Moore, Christian Pabst (…).
Giuseppe is also an experienced studio player.
As a leader, he has published his very first album, A Traveler Point of View (Alfamusic), in 2019; his second work, titled Un Imprevisto È La Sola Speranza (The Changes) will come out in September 2020.
In addition, given his profound interest for his birthplace and its culture, over the course of the years he has been working intensively on a project named About Sicily: the first EP, Terra Ca Nun Senti, will see the light in 2021.
Among his last works as a sideman, there are two albums with The Bop Collective, as well as the second album of tenor player Lucas Martínez, End Of A Cycle (Fresh Sound Records, 2020).
He has recorded electric and acoustic bass on Throw Stones, the latest work by Danish guitar player Teis Semey - premiered at the beginning of 2020 at the world famous Bimhuis - and he is part of The Music of Duke Ellington (The Changes 2020), the last record by Casares Brothers, featuring British piano player Joe Webb.
Since 2015 Giuseppe has been active with Fluid Collective, a project co-led with guitar player Alessio Pignorio and alto player Daniele Germani.
This ensemble has recorded two albums: In The Woods (for Honolulu Records, 2015) and The A’dam Chapter (self-produced, 2020) which features alto player Dick Oatts and singer Sanne Huijbregts.
Giuseppe proudly endorses Anastasio Fasanaro Handmade Guitars and Basses.
