Anna Gréta Sigurðardóttir
was born and raised in Iceland but has been based in Stockholm, Sweden since 2014. She is a pianist, singer and a songwriter.
She recently had the honor of performing at the Nobel Prize Ceremony in 2020 as well as playing a featured concert at Stockholm Concert Hall in March. Since relocating to Stockholm, Anna Gréta has collaborated with some of Sweden’s finest jazz musicians such as Max Schultz, Joakim Milder, Magnus Lindgren, and Susanna Risberg and she's had music commissioned for Norrbotten Big Band and the world renowned pianist Bobo Stenson. She has been one of Stockholms most in-demand jazz pianists since 2015, participating in various projects and constellations. She has done demo videos for NORD keyboards.
Her debut album as a solo artist Nightjar in the Northern Sky will be released on ACT music on October 29th 2021. It features some of Iceland's most prominent jazz musicians, produced by Anna Gréta and Albert Finnbogason. Skúli Sverrisson, Einar Scheving, Johan Tengholm, Hilmar Jensson, Sigurður Flosason, Magnus Trygvason Eliassen, and Ragnheiður Gröndal.
In recent years Anna Gréta has received numerous awards and nominations in both Sweden and Iceland, including the prestigious Monica Zetterlund award in 2019, Jazz Club Fasching Society Award in 2018, Best Newcomer in Jazz at the Icelandic music prize in 2015, nomination by the Swedish National Radio for Jazzkatten in 2019 and two nominations for the Icelandic Music Prize in 2019. Anna Gréta is presently among Scandinavia's fastest-rising young jazz musicians.
“Anna Gréta shows an impressive musical spectrum; from a lyrical and harmonically intricate solo-piano playing to a more brilliant, communicative way of playing with both large and small ensembles. She is a great listener and her rhythmic flow of tones reminds you of Keith Jarrett and the atmosphere of the Icelandic folk music.“ (Jazz Club Fasching Society Award 2018)
