Info for Red Bossa
Legendary Brazilian singing star Joyce Moreno is beyond amazed by Danish pianist and composer Steen Rasmussen's musical fluency and close relationship to Brazilian music: “He knows it inside and out and plays it with respect and a deep understanding of all aspects of the art form. After hearing Rasmussen's Red Bossa Trio, she emphasizes that he is an artist who follows his heart, “which should come as no surprise to anyone who has ever heard him play - or had the pleasure of playing alongside him, which is the case for me. The magic of the trio's music is a powerful statement and reminder to all who hear it that beauty exists in a wild world. It should be no surprise that one of Steen's tracks is called Hymn to Life, and another is called Happy Sadness - the very emotion that helps define Brazilian music as a whole, and Bossanova, in particular.” Steen's Red Bossa Trio consists of Fredrik Damsgaard, with his tastefully insightful bass playing, and one of Brazil's most respected drummers, Celso De Almeida, who expertly and elegantly spices up the music just as it should be with an authentic ability to underplay things while being funky at the same time. RED BOSSA was recorded in Copenhagen and cements Steen Rasmussen's crucial role as Denmark’s leading interpreter of Brazilian music. Since his first introductions to Bossa, Samba, and the other sub-genres from the great South American country and culture, he’s dared to dive headfirst into things fully committed and without a safety net.

Steen Rasmussen
is one of Denmark's most skilful interpreters of Brazilian music with his own unique and sophisticated style. He has played with many of Denmark's leading soloists such as Lis Sorensen, Danseorkestret, Søs Fenger and Marie Carmen Koppel. Since 2007, Steen Rasmussen has been at the helm of Steen Rasmussen Quienteto. The band has released six albums and played countless tours in Denmark, Spain, Brazil, Ecuador, Columbia, Germany and France. Quite often, Steen Rasmussen has some of Brazil's biggest stars in his projects, such as Joyce Moreno, Paulo Braga and Leo Minax. A very special musical playmate is singer Josefine Cronholm. Steen Rasmussen's orchestra has been nominated for both DMA-JAZZ and twice for the CARL award. In collaboration with film company Crosswayfilm, the orchestra released the music documentary ‘Cafe Central’ in 2019. The film follows the band as they perform four nights at the legendary jazz club Cafe Central in Madrid.
Celso De Almeida
is one of Brazil's great drummers. He has played with leading Brazilian artists such as Gal Costa, Gilberto Gil, Edu Lobo, Leny Andrade, Joao Donato and Raul de Souza. In 2016, he featured on the album ‘Time Out’ with Eliane Elias. The album won a Latin Grammy. He is Rosa Passo's regular drummer and has toured the world with her. Since 2014 he has his own trio with pianist Felipe Silveira and bassist Sidiel Vieira.
