Info for On Air

His new album 'On Air', with his two sidekicks, Arnault Cuisinier on bass and Eric Echampard on drums, presents contemporary piano trio jazz, with romantic themes, feverish energy, and subtle electronics. Benjamin Moussay is an imaginative and sensual pianist, and composer, who delivers music with energy, swing, melody, fun and finesse. Influences can range from Paul Bley to Beethoven, as he builds each track like a movie scene. Indeed he has worked on a number of soundtracks.

Born in 1973, he went on to study physics, before devoting himself fully to music. He studied at conservatories in Strasbourg and Paris with Hervé Sellin, Jean-Francois Jenny-Clarke, etc. Moussay has worked with Louis Sclavis, Glenn Ferris, Archie Shepp, Jerry Bergonzi, David Liebmann, and many others - and has toured widely in Europe. He won the International Piano Competition Jazz Martial Solal 1998 and second prize as a soloist at the National Contest of La Defense Jazz 1999.
