Info for Stenenes lys

A new trio comes together with the album ‘STENENES LYS’ (The Light of Stones). Benedicte Torget, Arve Henriksen and Helge Lien create a unique musical landscape around the lyrics of Astrid Tollefsen and Benedicte Torget's songs. With lyrical virtuosity, they create shifting musical spaces. The ensemble presents a selection of Astrid Tollefsen's poems, and Benedicte Torget's exceptionally precise and moving vocals bring the lyrics to life. The internationally renowned musicians open up and expand the music. Singer and composer Benedicte Torget has previously interpreted poetry with the award-winning and critically acclaimed album ‘Karin Boye songs’.

Astrid Tollefsen (1897–1973) made her debut with the poetry collection Portrett i speil (Portrait in the Mirror) in 1947. Together with Gunvor Hofmo and Astrid Hjertenæs Andersen, she became a prominent voice in post-war modernist poetry in Norway. She is less well known today, but this project provides an opportunity to rediscover this original voice. Astrid Tollefsen has a unique perspective on everything that moves in nature. She observes the swallow on the wire, she sees the light in a stone, and writes beautiful and disturbing love poems.
