After establishing her profile as an international pianist in recent years with her solo recording Resonance (2018) and her quartet album Poems without Words (2017), and consolidating it with high-profile concerts at festivals such as Jazz Baltica and the Hong Kong Jazz Festival, Maria Baptist is now refocusing entirely on her qualities as a composer with the follow-up album "Here & Now 2" for her jazz orchestra.
Supported by Baptist's 16-piece ensemble, comprised of a first-class line-up of musicians, Maria Baptist transfers her aesthetic and unique style to "Here & Now 2." The seven new, multifaceted compositions emphasize the band's creative voices and individual personalities in a unique way. "Here & Now 2" speaks of the present moment, of what constitutes the "here and now" in a broader sense.
Maria Baptist is seen by ZDF as a "role model for a whole new generation of jazz." She performs as a soloist or with her own orchestra, has released 14 CDs under her name, and has received numerous awards.
