Info for Human Stranger
UK producer Mark Dobson aka Ambassadeurs doesn’t embark on a project lightly. Music to him is a means of interacting with the world, a lens to bring his emotions into focus; uniquely personal, this approach doesn’t lend itself to half-hearted statements or unfulfilled promises. Even by his own standards though, new album ‘Human Stranger’ is a stunning achievement. A record that travels from London to Berlin and Istanbul before finally taking him back to his home town, it’s a symphony of loss, a collection of pieces united by their ability to channel grief.
"What Mark’s fashioned with Human Stranger is incredibly clever. What could have been a fully introspective and quite challenging work has actually emerged as a clever record of very simple demands. He’s processed his emotional journey rather than told it; he’s seized what we have, the beauty that defends us from the dark, the beauty of melody and the global village, the majesty of humans dancing. Sometimes the answer really is that simple." (backseatmafia.com)
Mark Dobson aka Ambassadeurs
widespan electronica sound draws from many genres and styles all moulded together with his slick signature production. His output has won him strong support in particular on BBC Radio 1 from Monki, Huw Stephens and Phil Taggart as well as online press including The Fader, Mixmag, Vice, iD, Clash, XLR8R and Earmilk. Though he releases through his own Lost Tribe Records imprint many other labels have also picked up on his talents with his remixing services utilised by the likes of Tru Thoughts, Ninja Tune, Moshi Moshi, Fat Cat, Wah Wah 45s, Universal and Rough Trade.
