Info for Full Circle

SWEET are a phenomenon that has captivated the rock world for decades. Over the years, Sweet have sold more than 55 million records and reached 34 number 1 chart positions worldwide.

The golden thread that connects the past with the present and the future is SWEET veteran Andy Scott with all his determination to keep the band's musical legacy, recordings and touring at the highest level.

The band today continues to bring together outstanding musicians who deliver the full energy and soaring vocals that are associated with the SWEET sound and are the band's trademark.

SWEET began writing new songs for “Full Circle” in 2019. However, due to the pandemic, the project was put on hold and the band released “Isolation Boulevard” instead. This included remote recording sessions that gave the old material a new kick. The album was well received and the single “Set Me Free” placed in many heritage rock charts.

With the Covid period of isolation behind us, SWEET began work on “Full Circle” again. The band's touring plans interrupted the sessions in the meantime, but the recordings were finally completed in spring 2024. The band is in top form on the new songs, and Andy and Tom as producers are also very proud of the result of their work.

THE SWEET

THE SWEET The British glam rock band THE SWEET is definitely one of the few still active rock greats of the 70s. Back then, the band caused a sensation with their quirky outfits, strumming guitars and danceable record hits such as ‘Blockbuster!’ and ‘Hell Raiser’.

With more than 55 million albums sold worldwide, THE SWEET have achieved more than thirty such No.1 hits around the globe. With their almost weekly presence on the programme ‘disco’, their incredible guitar harmonies inspired other acts such as Queen, the Electric Light Orchestra and - in later decades - Def Leppard, Mötley Crüe and The Darkness.

THE SWEET are quintessentially British rock music bedrock that has been rocking every continent for more than four decades. The combination of energetic, high-pitched vocals and rugged guitar riffs creates the typical Sweet sound - driving, rebellious and hair-raising!

Andy Scott
Born 30th June 1949 in Wrexham, North Wales. Andy first picked up the guitar at 13 moving on to play bass ("because someone had to") with a plethora of local bands (The Fore-Winds, Missing Links and The Strangers) before settling in the Silverstone Set. In 1966 the group won Hughie Green's Opportunity Knocks, six weeks running, eventually to be beaten by Freddie Starr. This led to the Silverstone Set playing support to Jimi Hendrix on his first shows in the UK in 1967.

This was a moment of epiphany that moved Andy to return to playing guitar in his next venture “The Elastic Band” with his brother Mike now on bass. When Ted "Gus" Yeadon left to join to the Love Affair, the remaining members of the Elastic Band briefly became the backing group for The Scaffold before Andy and Mike finally moved south to London to complete the line-up of a new band, Mayfield's Mule.

August 1970 and still only 20, Andy was offered the job with The Sweet. The band had been around for a couple of years with limited success and with Andy now completing the "Classic line-up" The Sweet were about to take over the music world. Andyʼs first gig with The Sweet was on 26th September 1970 at The Windsor Ballroom, Redcar (UK) and the rest as they say is history.

In 1978 "Love Is Like Oxygen", written by Andy Scott and Trevor Griffin, won an Ivor Novello nomination in three categories and also took the ASCAP Award that year.

Paul Manzi
was born in North London on 6th May 1963. Faced with a choice of careers, he chose performing arts over his other love, tennis and the yearn to be a tennis player!

Initially following his dream of playing guitar like his hero Jimmy Page, it was soon discovered that Paul had a distinctive singing voice and found himself more in demand for his vocal prowess than his guitar talents.

Having toured with the likes of Ian Paice, Gordon Giltrap and Oliver Wakeman, amongst others, he joined the neo-progressive group Arena in 2010, writing and recording three acclaimed albums with them. He joined Sweet temporarily on the 2014 tour in Australia, playing guitar and keyboards, covering for Tony O'Hora, who was absent for personal reasons.

In 2016 Paul was asked to join the newly formed rock group, Cats in Space and recorded two albums with them, with highlights including British Summertime at Hyde Park with Phil Collins and support tours with Thunder, Deep Purple and Status Quo.

Finally, in May 2019 he returned to Sweet as a full-time member, moving into the more befitting role of frontman and adding an energetic, rockier edge to both live and recorded performances.

Lee Small
Born 19th July 1967 in Bloxwich near Walsall, in the West Midlands.

Lee started to play Bass at the age of 13 & by the time he was 15 was performing on the local pub scene in & around Wolverhampton.

He became a Vocalist / frontman quite by accident in 1989, after the band he was with at the time failed to find a singer & since then his voice can be heard on many a recording.

In 1997 he landed his first recording deal with the band Native Cain, & over the last two decades recorded over 20 albums Worldwide, with bands like SHY, PHENOMENA, LIONHEART, SIGNAL RED, SNOWFALL, to name a few, as well as releasing 3 successful solo albums.

He has also made guest apperances with various artists including Ginger & The Wildhearts & performing backing vocals for 3 albums for Rock legends Magnum.

Over the years Lee has also toured as a session guitarist or bass player with various artists from the 60’s,70’s & 80’s, it was on one of these when he first met Andy & The SWEET, he was playing with MUD 2 on a bill that also included The Rubettes.

This meeting was quite significant, as when Sweet needed a new bass player, he became the first port of call.

Lee became a full time member of SWEET in October 2019.

Tom Cory
born on June 1, 1994, in Somerset, UK, picked up the guitar at age 8 and has rarely put it down since. During his teenage years, he performed at prestigious venues such as Glastonbury Festival, the Royal Albert Hall, and the Indigo at the O2 Arena.

By his early 20s, Tom was establishing himself in the music industry as a musician and producer. His work has garnered millions of online streams, regular airplay on BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 2, and chart success. His TV compositions have featured on over 150 shows globally.

In 2018, Tom's band, Novatines, met Andy Scott at Concert At The Kings, leading to a collaboration where Andy took them into the studio and on tour in the UK and Germany. This partnership also saw Tom co-producing and mixing new material for Sweet.

Tom played his first shows with Sweet in October 2019 in Sydney, Australia. After the global pandemic, he returned to Guitar/Keyboard duties with Sweet and has performed at every show since.

Adam Booth
Born 16th September 1977 in Bury St Edmunds, Adam’s musical journey started at the tender age of six, when he began playing the drums.. Over time he learnt other instruments but having piano lessons during Mexico ’86 was never going to work out well!

Beyond his performance prowess, Adam has built a 23-year tenure as a guitar tech for Andy, a role that blossomed into a lasting friendship and a significant influence on his career. Adam's commitment to music saw him fill in for Bruce on multiple occasions, including tours in the UK, Germany and a memorable performance in Australia. His versatility shone through when he played bass in Europe during an emergency in 2019. With Bruce's retirement, Adam is poised to uphold and advance the SWEET legacy, stepping into the limelight after years of honing his skills.

His technical expertise extends to working with renowned artists and bands such as Toto, Steel Panther, Thin Lizzy, and many more. This wealth of experience has culminated in his songwriting talents, with a solo album slated for release in 2024.

This album contains no booklet.
