Blue Note Records has been making its mark for years, and not just with cutting-edge jazz. New to the label is now 24-year-old singer, songwriter and guitarist Maya Delilah from North London, who has just been named an ‘Artist To Watch 2025’ by Spotify, which is generally regarded as a sure sign of a rising star.

The 12 songs on Maya Delilah's debut album ‘The Long Way Round’ are steeped in soul-pop, but also contain lush country, blues and gospel echoes, as well as a dose of unadorned funk (on the new single ‘Squeeze’). ‘The album is a combination of so many parts of me,’ says Maya. ‘I'm so influenced by different genres, people, places and experiences that it's always been hard for me to synthesise my music into a unified sound or mood. It took a long time (hence ‘The Long Way Round’) for me to realise that it's a beautiful thing to have a body of work that explores so many different influences.’

Maya Delilah’s love of music began at an early age with artists like Prince, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, John Mayer to name a few. When her sister began guitar lessons, Maya first thought about pursuing music herself. She started learning the guitar and has been an advocate for girls playing the instrument ever since.

Maya attended the prestigious BRIT school where she met many like-minded musicians and artistic friends. It was there she mixed with a strong community of singers and songwriters, a hub of creativity that she continues to be a part of. This community provides unwavering support and in an industry that can be tough to break into, a trustworthy group like this can only accomplish positive results.

Only 24-years-old, Maya Delilah is not only a guitar expert but also writes songs of her own, drawing inspiration from artists like John Mayer, Daniel Caesar, D'Angelo, Tyler the Creator, Bruno Mars, and Vulfpeck. With her first EP “Oh Boy” and Single “Moonflower” release in 2021, her second EP “It’s Not Me, It’s You” is ready for release in 2021. Maya’s has a soul-pop sound inspired by experiences and constant daydreaming. Unique guitar harmonies stand out within her music; Maya wants to show that girls can be extraordinary on guitar, combat the stereotype of it being ‘a male instrument’, and inspire young girls to pursue music. Through her Social media platforms Instagram and Tik Tok, Maya has connected with artists and fans across the world, building a strong following that loves her for her music and message behind her artistry.
