Info for PORTALS

A cinematic live experience. As mysterious, monolithic structures appear across continents, it is perhaps not a complete coincidence that TesseracT chose such an artwork before the first news reports came in from Utah. A portal offers a gateway for its passenger to travel amongst realms; through 5 acts, TesseracT have designed a gateway into their world.

Everything from the stage to the sound to the visuals were killer… a beautiful two-hour venture. TesseracT should be very proud of themselves for delivering such an immense quality of work for their fans during these unfortunate times” (Metal Insider)

Following on from 2018’s critically acclaimed studio album, Sonder, the band, in the midst of a global pandemic decided to come together to present P O R T A L S – a cinematic live experience like no other. The band took livestreams to a new level by interspersing a conceptual storyline with their live performances that featured an arena-style light show.

TesseracT are a band that sit outside the bounds of any genre specificity, pioneers of the ever-evolving rock and metal scene, with an unstoppable force of off-kilter riffs, soaring melodies and disorientating atmospherics. They put all of this into the December 2020 event that featured the band performing songs spanning their entire catalogue. Highlights included “Nocturne" off their 2010 debut EP, Concealing Fate and continued with “Eden” (One, 2011), "Of Matter” (Altered State, 2013), “Tourniquet” (Polaris, 2015), and “King” (Sonder, 2018), with the whole performance capturing 14 songs over 2+ hours.

Amos Williams, TesseracT’s bass player and the show’s producer, explains more about the event and the concept behind it – “P O R T A L S is a celebration of our love of performing. Each act is a still from an ever-evolving musical personality. Each song is the conversations you have with old friends when you meet up for the first time in ages and you pick up exactly where you left off. This year has presented us all with an unusual set of barriers to surmount. The limitations of not being able to tour and the absence of shows, has focused us towards the concept of creating the ultimate tour production, within the ultimate TesseracT show. Where we explore every facet of our music, and every story we have told, and in doing so create new stories and in some cases commit evolved versions to a medium that will outlast the moment.”

“The quality of the audio and visuals provide testament to TesseracT’s statement that the performance represents their biggest production to date" (Prog/ Louder Sound)

TesseracT

TesseracT
began life as a solo project in a dark, cluttered room inhabited by Acle Kahney. With the initial idea to create music with no boundaries, except that it must move you and make you want to groove, embrace and enhance you; giving you what you think you want and then taking you somewhere totally unexpected. Like the namesake novel (though not connected) and ideas surrounding the tesseract, the band creates ripples of musical realities and unseen (or in this case unheard of) sonic dimensions.

Beginning in the virtual world of the studio in a box, by utilising the possibilities of modern technology, TesseracT are able to bring the dark and dense multi faceted sound of their recordings to the stage uncompromised and in full. Combining a highly energetic exciting sound with the symphony of audio elements has given TesseracT a reputation as outstanding and unbelievable act in the flesh.

The band is: Acle Kahney and James Montieth - Guitars; Abisola Obasanya - Vocals; Jay Postones -Drums; Amos Williams - Bass and vocals; and of course the ever growing rack of pcb's, leads and cpu's known perhaps ominously as HAAL. Since the formation of the live band, the music has evolved into a more visceral and entrancing being. Sung through the voices of each individual, it has a less mechanical vibe as is often the case with music from similar origin, and more of a human quality than you would expect. Like actors performing from a script the already expansive and unique parts are given a character and life that only musicians with passion can add.

The band as it is now formed just under a couple of years ago through meeting at gigs and keeping in touch with each other over the net.

This album contains no booklet.
