Info for (dys)function
Composer, producer and founder of Pop Noire, Johnny Hostile is a musician , mainly known for his work of producer with the rock band Savages or with the pop project Lescop. This album emanates from the will to become emancipated of any musical genre he usually plays. He felt that it was time to compose the music which exists in the center of its life for several years: ambient and experimental.
Conceived in a week-long ‘snow blackout’ that held Paris in its icy grip, Johnny Hostile designed these sounds as an accompaniment to living. Moving with the album as he walked alone through Pere Lachaise cemetery, he let the music seep into his chemistry, taking on the texture of his everyday.
Environmental sounds pepper this soundscape, from ‘Walk Through The Cemetery’s’ echoing footsteps to ‘Lunch In’s ambient recordings of birds chittering and children chattering. Delivers moments of sparse, unadorned beauty too, though it’s soon shattered by ‘Procrastination’s ear-burning wail.
At once warped and soothing, it grows every time you listen and live.
