Info for What A Woman Can Do
Award-winning duo Maddie & Tae, composed of longtime friends Maddie Font and Taylor Kerr, have made a significant impact on the country music scene with their honest songwriting, tight harmonies, and unbreakable bond. They first gained attention in 2013 with their Platinum-selling hit ‘Girl In A Country Song' which challenged the bro-country trend and made them only the third female duo in 70 years to top the Country Airplay charts.
Their success continued with the 3X Platinum-certified No. 1 hit ‘Die From A Broken Heart' featured on their album ‘The Way It Feels.' The duo's accolades include a CMT Music Award for Group/Duo Video of the Year and nominations from the ACM Awards, Billboard Music Awards, and CMA Awards.
New EP ‘What A Woman Can Do' released today, September 13, is the latest chapter in their celebrated career. It s a powerful collection of tracks that blend funky rhythms, empowering messages, and heartfelt ballads. The duo continues to shine with their signature blend of catchy hooks and meaningful lyrics, delivering an EP that celebrates the strength and resilience of women while bringing a fresh, uptempo energy back into their music.
“We titled this project after the track What A Woman Can Do because it embodies where we are in our lives and careers,” Maddie & Tae share. “The theme of confidence in what we can do as women is a thread that runs through each of these songs. We feel so empowered in who we are, where we’ve been, what we’ve learned and where we’re going, and we want our fans to feel the same way when they hear this music.”
The EP kicks off with ‘Free Like,' a spirited anthem that sets the tone with its funky guitar riff and infectious rhythm. Maddie & Tae waste no time in declaring their independence, giving a metaphorical middle finger to anyone trying to hold them back. The song is full of joy and empowerment, with a big, sing-along chorus that’s sure to get listeners dancing. “You ain’t seen free like me!” they proclaim, making it a perfect opener that encapsulates the EP’s themes of liberation and confidence. Similarly, ‘Sad Girl Summer' carries a continuing vibe of post-relationship freedom. Despite its title, this track is anything but sad. It’s an upbeat, empowering song that encourages women to move on and embrace new possibilities. With lines like, “He ain’t what you want, baby, go and brush it off,” Maddie & Tae continue to promote a message of self-worth and positivity, wrapped in an irresistible, funky groove.

boldly introduced their debut single “Girl In A Country Song” shortly after signing with Dot Records. Featured on their debut album START HERE, of which they penned each of the eleven tracks, the PLATINUM-certified breakout hit soared atop the Country radio charts and made them only the third female duo to peak their debut single at #1 in the history of the Billboard Country singles chart. The gender-flipping video garnered over 38 million views and scored the duo their first-ever award: CMA Video of the Year.
The pair, from Texas and Oklahoma, respectively, also swept the 2016 Radio Disney Music Awards, winning both Favorite Country Artist and Favorite Country Song for GOLD-certified “Fly.” They have previously been nominated for ACM, CMT and CMA Awards. Receiving critical acclaim from NPR, Entertainment Weekly, The Washington Post and Glamour, among others. Maddie & Tae have appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman, TODAY, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Live! with Kelly and Michael and most recently on The Talk, where they performed a cleverly written tune about dealing with bullies called “Sierra.” Sharing their songs with fans on the road, Maddie & Tae conquered their first headlining START HERE TOUR last fall before joining Lee Brice’s LIFE OFF MY YEARS TOUR and most recently wrapping dates with Brad Paisley’s LIFE AMPLIFIED WORLD TOUR.
