Info for What I'm Running From

Today Chris Kläfford releases his long-awaited second album ‘What I'm Running From’ - a disc full of raw, honest and live-recorded songs. It is also his first album on his own label, HoxFord Records.

‘What I'm Running From' is a journey through the trials of life, where the heart carries memories, longing and the eternal struggle between right and wrong. I've finally found my home in a genre that truly feels like mine - where stories are allowed to breathe, emotions are allowed to take place and music is allowed to truly live. This album is very special to me. It's deeply rooted in my upbringing in the country, in stories and feelings that I've carried with me through life. The songs are about struggle and faith, about sin and redemption, about constantly being on the road without really knowing where to go. Recording them in Nashville, where so many of my musical idols have recorded their albums, was nothing short of magical,’ says Chris.

The recordings for the album took place over two intensive weeks in Nashville in October. When Chris returned to Sweden, he brought with him a collection of songs that mark the beginning of a new musical era for him.

‘It's been a dream to record in Nashville for a long time, and when it became a reality, it was equal parts amazing and terrifying. This city has an energy that you can't describe - the soul is really there. The music is in the walls, in the wood of the worn floors, in the echo of every artist who has fought their way through the city's stages and studios,’ says Chris. He continues: ‘It was a challenge to go into the studio with musicians who have lived and breathed this music their whole lives. The bar was set high. But as soon as we started playing, I knew I was exactly where I needed to be. It was raw, real and live - no fuss, no polished facade. I had found my way to make music where it could breathe and live as it is. Nashville changed me and confirmed to me that I was on the right path. That my music and my stories have a place in the world.’

2024 was a busy year for Chris. He has toured extensively, both with country band Tennessee Tears and on his own sold-out tour of Germany. He will return in the spring for a tour of Sweden and Europe.
