A Bold New Outlaw Sound: The country duo Mountain Daisies, consisting of Ariane Ouellet and Carl Prévost, releasing their new album "The Outlaw Sessions".

Forged in the rebellious spirit of 1960s and 1970s country-rock, the new material trades traditional tropes for an unapologetic, guitar-heavy vintage vibe and raw, uninhibited energy.

The duo Mountain Daisies
are renowned for their infectious energy on stage, the musical quality of their performances and the natural chemistry between their two members, Ariane Ouellet and Carl Prévost. They have now established themselves as one of the leading acts of their generation on the Quebec country music scene.

Ariane and Carl have been working together for many years and have supported over a hundred artists through their show, *L’Open Country de Mountain Daisies*. These performances – initially as part of a residency in Montreal and later at festivals across Quebec, notably in St-Tite, Tadoussac and Petite-Vallée – have enabled them to develop solid stage experience and a keen interpretative sensitivity.

Ariane and Carl developed their original solo repertoire during a research and creative trip to Nashville in 2019. Following their meeting with producer Danick Dupelle (Matt Lang, Emerson Drive, Tebey), they decided to create an album inspired by American country music, but tailor-made for a Quebec audience. The EP *Dare to Fall* was launched at the Festival Western de St-Tite in 2022 and earned two major nominations in 2023: Country Album of the Year at the GAMIQ and Album of the Year – Other Language at the Gala Country.

Two tours later, Mountain Daisies’ repertoire has taken a more raw and daring direction. The album A Woman Like Me, due for release in autumn 2026, was forged in the spirit of those irreverent, so-called ‘outlaw’ artists, and showcases a strong and more confident artistic identity. Rock is ever-present, the sound is more vintage, and the lyrics explore a raw, festive and uninhibited world centred on alcohol, late-night escapades and prison. It’s the perfect material to take to Quebec’s liveliest stages.
