Info for Beast (EP)
Witch Post releases their long-awaited debut EP, Beast. The music twinship between Alaska Reid and Dylan Fraser has announced them as stars in rapid ascent. Today, after a string of prophecies in the form of singles – ‘Chill Out’, ‘Rust’, ‘Dreaming’, ‘The Wolf’, and finally today’s ‘Spell’ – the band’s reputation for heaven, hell and magic is finally realised to its fullest extent.
Derived from 17th-century English murals designed to ward off witches, the name Witch Post is as much a tribute to the herbalists of yesteryear as it is to the intoxicatingly distorted indie rock of the Scottish-American duo. Dylan Fraser and Alaska Reid bring the sounds of two very different musical roots together on equal footing in their songs. The result is rousing indie rock with lustful distortions and expressive vocals that operate at a never-before-seen intersection of Oasis and My Bloody Valentine. But comparisons are bound to be flawed because Witch Post have proven this year with their debut EP, ‘Beast’ (2025), that they are in the process of creating a distinctive style of highly emotional indie music with an explicit penchant for the mystical. Nevertheless, they remain grounded, close to their craft, immersed in their instruments.
“Witch Post are proof that sometimes the most intriguing stories begin with a chance encounter, a mysterious artefact, and the courage to follow wherever the magic leads.” – Dork
“… they’re like a sonic match made in witchy heaven, blending their strengths to create something both nostalgic and now.” – PAPER
“A super-duo with serious hype around them, Witch Post – Alaska Reid and Dylan Fraser – are making rock music cool again.” – Notion
“[Witch Post] unfurl again and again like a kaleidoscope, twisting open and pulling the listener deeper in.” – So Young
Witch Post
Witch Post
is a band comprised of Scottish musician Dylan Fraser and American musician Alaska Reid. They met by chance, both having solo careers in the music industry but on different sides of the coin. Coincidentally they also discovered that they are from towns of the same name, one in Scotland, one in Montana. Alaska comes from the American indie scene and Dylan from the UK’s alternative scene.
Witch Post seeks to reclaim band music. They write songs that honour the wolffish qualities of Scottish Rock n’ Roll & the driving openness of American music. The name Witch Post comes from 17th century carvings in rural England that were crafted to ward off witches. Alaska and Dylan have adopted the name in honour of the witch. Through the craft of songwriting, they explore the fabric of the world & how they feel.
