Info for FAURÉVER (A Tribute to Gabriel Fauré) (Deluxe version)
‘Fauréver’ or the double intention of Enrico Pieranunzi, in recording this ‘jazz’ tribute to Gabriel Fauré, to honour the eternal beauty of the works of this great composer while underlining the need, in these new modern times, to continue to dream. Over the years Enrico Pieranunzi has developed a relationship of silent complicity with Fauré’s music. Every time he played his barcarolles or nocturnes or when he listened to his chamber music he was left breathless. This is why Bonsaï Music, after having produced the two previous albums of the trio he formed with André Ceccarelli and Diego Imbert, immediately agreed to record ‘Fauréver’. In this new project, Enrico Pieranunzi wanted to honour the upcoming 100th anniversary of Gabriel Fauré’s death. To do this, Enrico Pieranunzi set about rereading a large part of Fauré's music on the piano, immersing himself in it completely by 'plunging his hands' into its sounds, rejoicing once again in the rediscovery of the Maestro's melodic and harmonic solutions. In doing so, an exciting phenomenon of "germination" occurred, through which other music was born from his own. A powerful and moving process that can be heard in several tracks on this album, such as the Prélude pour une berceuse, the formidable Valse pour une pavane, Autour de la sicilienne, Caprice in blue or La nuit, la nuit d'après the very famous Après un rêve. The other tracks on the album are the result of a sort of musical game: taking a theme and changing its tempo. Thus, the Maestro’s fourth barcarolle, sensual and fluctuating, became Funkarolle, a captivating funky piece; Mai, one of Fauré’s first works when he was only 16, was transformed into Les fleurs de mai, a swing jazz piece; Dolly, a well-known work in the four-hand repertoire, renamed Bonjour Dolly! flirts with the sun of an unpredictable Cuban rhythm, while Romance pour un roman is the Jazz-Blues evocation of the Maestro’s tender third Romance sans paroles Op. 17. Of course, Enrico Pieranunzi could not have realized this dream of "playing" with the much-loved music of the one whom Claude Debussy called "The Master of Grace" without having at his side the two extraordinary musicians with whom he has already recorded and published two Jazz & Classic albums in the past, namely André Ceccarelli, Diego Imbert, joined on this occasion by the singer Simona Severini and the great clarinetist Gabriele Mirabassi who has embellished the pieces in which he plays with his dual skills as a great jazz player and a refined classical interpreter. 'Fauréver', an invitation to the eternal dream and grace of both Gabriel Fauré and Enrico Pieranunzi, here his ambassador.
