Info for Telemann: Quatuors Parisiens

After two albums released by Ambronay which have received numerous plaudits, the Swiss baroque ensemble Les Ombres present an album dedicated to Telemann's 'Paris' Quartets: repertoire they played at York Early Music Festival in 2012 in a young artists' showcase.

Pleased with the reception of his quartets from the Parisian public, Telemann completed an edition of six new quartets subsequently appointed 'Pariser Quartett'. These contrast with the first set in their decidedly French style. In chamber formation Les Ombres explore the unique style of these jewels of baroque music.

“This is an excellent recording…I loved hearing Bach and Fasch played for the first time by Italians… I doubt a casual listener would discern anything particular – it is more likely that the beauty of the sound and the remarkable balance between the voices will overwhelm them…I shall return to this disk again and again for the sheer pleasure of the experience.” (Early Music)

In thirteen years, the ensemble has continued to expand its audience and to reinvent itself. It has succeeded in diversifying its projects, from chamber music to opera, by collaborating with renowned artists from various disciplines.

A prestigious and ambitious ensemble, Les Ombres has created a circle of loyal and passionate donors. These patrons, who play an indispensable role in the ensemble's projects, forge close links with the artistic team and follow the ensemble's activities closely.

Joining Le Cercle des Ombres means participating in an exciting artistic adventure. It means supporting an ensemble whose demanding approach is recognised in the world of classical music, and accompanying it in its ambition to pursue original programming without ceasing to innovate and to surround itself with young talent.

In 2021 and 2022, the musical repertoire of the Royal Chapel of the Château de Versailles will be honoured. Here we unveil this ambitious project which appeals to your generosity.
