Info for Ramon Mirabet All-Star Jazz Project - Songs I Heard
Ramon Mirabet surprises us with a decisive change of direction: his sixth album, Ramon Mirabet All-Star Jazz Project — Songs I Heard (Panda Records), is a commitment to simplicity, listening and raw emotion. Far from embellishments and artifice, this work puts the music centre stage and recaptures the warm atmosphere of jazz classics.
This project is deeply personal: it is dedicated to Mirabet's father, a trombonist and great jazz lover who passed away four years ago. That family connection runs through the entire album. Mirabet describes it without fanfare: he is not trying to prove anything, but rather to enjoy playing with some of the most incredible musicians he has ever met. That honesty can be heard in every take.
The recording is part of the message. The album was conceived live, with all the musicians playing together, looking at each other and conversing with their instruments, exactly like the vinyl records that Mirabet's father collected. The search was deliberate: direct, natural and warm sound, with classic microphones and preamps, without overproduction. Each track was captured in just three or four takes, and the one was chosen in which the collective energy achieved the unrepeatable magic of the moment.
The band accompanying Mirabet brings together some of the biggest names in contemporary jazz: Jorge Rossy (drums), Perico Sambeat (saxophone), Albert Sanz (piano) and Masa Kamaguchi (double bass). The chemistry between them translates into clear and emotive musical communication, capable of reaching both those familiar with the standards and those seeking sincere, unlabelled music.
The album revives standards linked to figures such as Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Billie Holiday, Chet Baker and Nat King Cole, and includes a surprising interpretation of Jeff Buckley's Grace. These are songs that Mirabet listened to as a child at home, now reinterpreted with experience and respect, maintaining the original essence but offering a personal perspective.
After years of playing in the streets and squares of half of Europe and a career that grew through hard work and craftsmanship, Songs I Heard is Mirabet's most courageous work to date: a return to the essentials, a gesture of tenderness towards family memories and, at the same time, a vindication of the value of music played together. It is an album designed to be listened to attentively, to be carried away by the warmth of the performance and the connection between musicians who, in a world of oversaturation and noise, sound - literally - like the truth.
If you are looking for an album that breathes classic jazz but retains a contemporary and personal touch, Ramon Mirabet All-Star Jazz Project — Songs I Heard is an album to approach calmly and let yourself be moved by.

Ramón Mirabet Torre
is a singer-songwriter from Sant Feliu de Llobregat, currently based in Sitges. Grandson of cicrus artists and son of musicians, he’s been surrounded by music since he was born.
Ramon Mirabet spent more than six years playing on the streets of Europe's major cities, but it was in Paris, more specifically on the steps of Montmartre, that he found one of his favourite places to perform. Thanks to his impromptu performances, Ramon earned enough money to record and produce his first album. In 2013, he released ‘Happy Days’ (Warner Music).
In 2016, he released his second album, Home Is Where The Heart Is (Warner Music), which gave Ramon a big leap towards the big stages. The promotional tour for his second album was seen by more than 140,000 people at over 90 concerts.
In 2019, Begin Again represents a huge step forward for one of the most promising artists of the moment. An illustrious concert at the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona - sold out - marks the start of a new tour that promises to be one of the most important of the season in Catalonia.
In 2022, he released Free, his fourth studio album, which he presented at the Gran Teatre del Liceu – once again with a sold-out crowd – proving that he is now an artist with an established career.
This album contains no booklet.
