Info for For Bunita Marcus
Ralf Schnell performs one of the most beautiful works of modern piano literature, American modernist composer Morton Feldman’s late masterpiece ‘For Bunita Marcus’.
Ralf Schnell is a classical pianist and composer. He studied the piano, chamber music and contemporary music with Manfred Reichert (Ensemble Modern, Mannheim), Burkhard Schaeffer (Mainz) and Darryl Rosenberg (Boston).
Ralf Schnell’s favorite repertoire includes the works of Rachmaninov, Chopin and Brahms, and he is continuously searching to discover new modern or contemporary works. His recitals are always built around a theme that connects the entire program, rather than following the all-too-common recital scheme from Baroque to Classic to Romantic to Modern.
Besides performing his solo recital programs, Ralf focuses on his love for chamber music and especially the ‘Lied’ repertoire of Schubert, Brahms, and Strauss.

Ralf Schnell
Based in Germany, Ralf Schnell is a world-renowned classical pianist and composer, celebrated for his exceptional mastery of Rachmaninov, Chopin, and Brahms.
His performances are a testament to his deep understanding of these composers’ intricate works. “This is the best Chopin I have ever heard!” states Karl Ulrich Schnabel, on a performance of Chopin’s 2nd Sonata from Schnell.
Ralf’s musical journey began in a small village in Europe, where he defied expectations by dedicating himself to the piano from a very young age. Despite early challenges, including a battle with Focal Dystonia, he made a triumphant return to the concert stage in 2023, to rave reviews & successfully completed a master’s degree in music.
Schnell’s mentors, including Darryl Rosenberg and Laurent Boullet, have shaped his unique approach to performance and composition. His most memorable experiences include a masterclass with Hans-Joachim Hespos and his first solo recital featuring Liszt’s “Années de pèlerinage.”
Influenced by the legendary Arthur Rubinstein, Schnell’s style is characterized by its narrative approach. His recital programs are thematic journeys, performed without breaks, allowing audiences to truly immerse themselves in the Classical music culture, in a unique way.
Schnell’s performances are extraordinary experiences, offering audiences a profound connection to the music and its composers. His ultimate goal is to create more of these magical moments in both solo and chamber music settings. He has graced some of the most prestigious stages around the world, having performed in Germany, Norway, United Kingdom, France and Latvia, to name a few.
“Music is able to connect all of us with a level of existence much more fundamental than our consciousness, something that words or Science are not capable of doing” says Schnell.
Schnell is currently working on an original music project and is booking live performances. He is being promoted by celebrity publicist Danie Cortese. Her firm, Danie Cortese Entertainment, is recognized for having worked with some of the biggest names in entertainment. Stay tuned for more upcoming developments from this extraordinary pianist.
