The jazz pianist, arranger and composer Alan Broadbent - born in 1947 - can already look back on a very successful career. He has made recordings with Natalie Cole, Diana Krall and even Sir Paul McCartney, among others. For 25 years, Broadbent has been the pianist in bassist Charlie Haden's legendary "Quartet West", recorded important albums with this band and was a regular guest with them at the most important jazz festivals in the world.

His solo work is often underestimated. After all, there are thirteen albums of his own under his name, on which one can hear very well how much poetry and elegance there is in his piano playing. The "Los Angeles Times" recently called him "one of the best jazz pianists alive".

Born in 1952, I’ve been a professional musician all my working life. At age 17 I had my first professional engagement as the guitar player in the Blackpool Tower Ballroom with the Charles Barlow big band which was a great training ground.

My main instrument is guitar and I also play bass and piano/keyboards.

My work over the last 30 years has been composing and performing music for TV and I have forged an excellent relationship with my publisher/manager Northstar Music who have given me the opportunity to write music for all forms of media and also to write and record albums of music that I really enjoy,
