Biography Erik Rousi and Justas Stasevskij

Erik Rousi
is known for his strong yet beautiful bass voice, which ranges from lied music to heavy romantic opera. Rousi's honest and personal expression has inspired audiences and critics both at home and on the international stage. Highlights of Rousi's 2018-2019 season include Daland R. Wagner in The Flying Dutchman (Theater Ulm), Raimondo G. Donizetti in Lucia di Lammermoor (Theater Ulm) and Rocco L. van Beethoven in Fidelio (Stadttheater Baden). Since autumn 2018, Rousi has been engaged as bass soloist at the Ulm Opera House in Germany.

Since 2018, Rousi has been artistic director of Eurajoki Bel Canto together with bass colleague Mika Kares. Rousi's first season at Eurajoki Bel Canto was a critical and public success.

In addition to opera, Erik Rousi also performs as a lied singer. In lied music, his repertoire includes all of F. Schubert's major song suites, several of R. Schumann's suites and a wide range of solo songs from the song productions of various composers. For the 2018-2019 season, Rousi will return to two of his favourite song suites, performing R. Schumann's Dichterliebe and F. Schubert's Winterreise. This season he will also expand his repertoire with J. Brahms' Four Serious Songs.

Rousi has studied at the Vienna City Music University under Prof. Niels Muus and Prof. KS Angelika Kirchschlager, and at the Metropolia AMK under Prof. Seppo Ruohonen and Marjut Hannula.
