SHAKRA
SHAKRA has a quarter-century under its belt. Anyone who has ever played in a band knows just how fragile and demanding band dynamics can be. Twenty-five years is a long time in the music business, and few acts make it that far. SHAKRA has succeeded, and it doesn't look like they plan on calling it quits anytime soon. Quite the opposite!
Guitarist Thom Blunier emphasizes: "I am extremely proud and grateful that the band is still around after 25 years of rock 'n' roll. Anyone with even the slightest idea of how difficult it is for a band to survive knows just how valuable and rare this is. I’m ready for the next 25 years!"
The band has experienced various highs and lows and weathered plenty of turbulence, all while keeping their ultimate goal in sight. This is reflected in the numerous, consistent chart placements the band has achieved over the years—both in Germany (e.g., #53, #69, #72, and others) and, naturally, in Switzerland (e.g., #1, twice at #2, #3, #4, #7, and so on).
In 2020, the quintet intends to celebrate its 25th anniversary in style with its fans—delivering the hard-hitting, catchy, and energetic rock music they are known for. It goes without saying that the anniversary year will bring new music. Eleven new tracks—delivered in classic, tried-and-true SHAKRA fashion—alongside a heart-wrenching ballad, make up the album *Mad World*. A crazy world. That is exactly what it is. What was good yesterday is bad today; what held value yesterday is worthless today. It is not just the music scene experiencing chaotic times; the entire world frequently turns upside down. It is all the better, then, that SHAKRA remains undeterred, steadfastly doing what the band does best: writing songs that stick in your head and cry out to be played on stages across the globe. Fittingly, the album release is being accompanied by a packed schedule of concerts and appearances at major festivals in the scene. With "Mad World," SHAKRA doesn't need to prove themselves all over again; rather, they have the opportunity and the ability to do so—and they do it with palpable passion. Here’s to another quarter-century!
