Medium Build – alias der gefeierte Singer-Songwriter Nick Carpenter – veröffentlicht sein neues Album „King of Having Fun“.

„King of Having Fun“ ist Carpenters erstes Album in voller Länge seit dem vielgelobten „Country“ aus dem Jahr 2024, das von Paper, Billboard, The Tennessean, NME und vielen anderen hochgelobt wurde, während Rolling Stone Carpenter in ihrer Rubrik „Future 25“ vorstellte. Das Album wurde live im Studio mit seinen engsten Freunden und Mitwirkenden aufgenommen, darunter der musikalische Leiter Paul Rogers, der Toningenieur Jimmy Manfield, der „atmosphärische Stimmungsmacher“ Jake LiBassi und weitere. Dabei näherten sie sich jedem Song oft aus der Perspektive eines Live-Auftritts in größeren Sälen und legten den Fokus auf „Rock-’n’-Roll-Momente“. Carpenter erkundet auf den 14 Titeln des Albums verschiedene Genres mit Einflüssen aus Pop-Country der 90er Jahre, modernem Country, Rock, Indie und mehr.

„Ich habe mich an einige große Ideen gewagt und bin stolz darauf, wie ich mich textlich präsentiert habe – ich habe alles gegeben“, erklärt Carpenter. „Klanglich gibt es eine gewisse Verspieltheit, und es ist eine große Zusammenarbeit, an der bei fast jedem Titel sechs oder sieben Leute beteiligt waren.“

Er fährt fort: „Ich hatte nie Probleme damit, zu beschreiben, wie schrecklich es ist, mit jemandem zusammen zu sein; ich war noch nie gut darin, darüber zu schreiben, wie schön es sein kann. Dieses Album fühlt sich daher so an, als wäre es das erste Mal, dass ich auf künstlerische Weise, ohne kitschig zu wirken, sagen konnte: ‚Danke, dass du mich liebst‘“… Dieses Album enthält ein echtes Liebeslied für meine Partnerin und ein echtes Liebeslied für meine Mutter … Ich schätze, das ist ein Zeichen dafür, dass ich mich weiterentwickelt habe. Es ist vielleicht das Beste und Wichtigste, was ich je geschaffen habe … Es ist eine Feier des Lebens.“

Carpenter ist in Georgia geboren und aufgewachsen und lebt heute abwechselnd in seinen Heimatstädten Nashville, Tennessee, und Anchorage, Alaska. Seit der Gründung von Medium Build im Jahr 2015 hat Nick Carpenter bis heute fünf Studioalben veröffentlicht. Er ist zu einem Liebling der kreativen Szene geworden, zu dessen Fans Künstler wie John Mayer, Zach Bryan, Elton John, boygenius und viele andere zählen. Er war bereits mit Künstlern wie Role Model, Tyler Childers, FINNEAS, Holly Humberstone und Briston Maroney auf Tour und schaffte es auf die begehrte Liste „Artists to Watch 2024“ von Zane Lowe. His upcoming tour focuses specifically on the middle of the continental United States, not just cities often overlooked by major touring artists, but places in the most vital need of queer community and spiritual uplift. The response of Medium Build’s devoted following has been overwhelming, with over a dozen dates sold-out across the Midwest and Southeast. Carpenter aims to bring that message of uplift and affirmation not just around the county, but around the world. His 2023 tour will continue in Europe, including a special sold-out solo performance at the revered St. Pancras Old Church in London, one of the oldest historical sites of Christian worship in the world. It’s a fitting setting for an artist with such a spiritual core to his music: not necessarily religious, but still searching for something joyful and sublime. That soulful passion defines the music of Medium Build, as conducive to collective ecstasy as private revelation.
