"I experience that classical music often is interpreted the same. The Norwegian folk music is interpreted in the same way, through the music from the same period. I think that this particular music has something special, and that grabbing elements from folk music opens for new and exiting opportunities, where one could find ways to the very same inspiration the great composers used. The lonely and melancholy. Familiarity. The real and honest. That lasts." says Sander Tingstad.

"Opphav" comas as a part of the "Kunstmusikken & Folkesjela" project, where Tingstad interoperates classical Norwegian music together with the award-winning pianist Ingfrid Breie Nyhus and of Norways leading folk musicians, accordion Mad Erik Odde.

Nyhus has received international recognition with his recordings of "slåttemusikk" on clavier, and is known for his spontaneous and peculiar expression. Together, Tingstad and Nyhus creates a unique version of Griegs sonate in G-Major.
