Info zu BokkeReidars Blues Band

With over 40 years of experience, BokkeReidars is one of the most experienced live bands in the country.

The band has previously performed at Moldejazz, Trondheim Jazz Festival, Vossa Jazz and DølaJazz, and has also played club gigs in New York.

In recent years, BokkeReidars has collaborated with a wide variety of artists such as Side Brok, Vidar Busk, Beate Lech from Beady Belle and Palle Wagnberg.

Svein Hunnes
is the bassist and musical director of BokkeReidars. He has been with the band since the beginning, and also writes songs, lyrics and wind arrangements for the band. Svein has extensive musical experience and has played in many different bands. Today, he is a member of the jazz quintet "Stolen Moments". Svein lives in Volda

Terje H. Hanssen
has a major in music from the Bergen University of Education, and in addition to percussion, he has specialized in Latin American percussion. He was actively involved in the development of a salsa scene in Bergen in the early 80s, together with Knut Kristiansen. He was an associate member of Son Mu, and one of the initiators of and drummer in the band Ken-Dang. As a drummer, Terje has a heart for the slightly funky grooves, but he believes that his blues experience has also brought him closer to jazz. Terje lives in Hamar.

André Folkestad
is the trombonist in the band, and he writes songs, lyrics and wind arrangements for BokkeReidars. André has been in the band from the very beginning. He has also played in several different jazz bands, including Carlos Alberichi Big Band and Mixmasters and the Voices. André lives in Lillehammer.

Steinar Høydal
is the newest member of BRBB and plays organ and piano. He has played in the big band Blæst and various salsa bands in Bergen. He started his career in Ørstavik Lydlag and in addition to BRBB plays in Sula Blueslag and in the jazz quintet Slowfood. Steinar lives in Volda.

Ivar Kvangardsnes
is the trumpeter, administrator and shepherd in BokkeReidars, and he also writes wind arrangements. He brought his horn to BRBB in 1991. He has experience from a number of bands within blues, soul, jazz and big band, including deFeat (Volda), Cold Sweat (Oslo), Møre og Romsdal Fylkesstorband (Ålesund), Big Bland Blast (Ålesund), Volda and Ørsta Storband (Volda), Storyville Storband (Molde), Trondheim Storband, Trondheim Ballroom Orchestra and District Nine. Ivar lives in Volda.

Klaus Blø
is the guitarist in the band and joined in 2003, but has extensive experience from countless other bands such as Brunst Brothers, Skabb, Elvis in Chains, Country Dick & The Gay Rangers, Highway Patrole, In Vulnus Abire and The Clinton Experience.

Klaus is originally from Midsund, but lives and works as a teacher in Volda.

Gunnar Solheim
is a singer in BokkeReidars and has been with them since 2001. He has primarily had experience from various rock bands. Among others, Hard Rain (Volda/Ørsta) Radio Rebel (Volda/Ørsta) and Hystereo (Oslo). According to his own statement, Gunnar is not a musician, but a vocal medium. A rocking soul in a restless body. Lives in Oslo.

Trond Johnsen
plays saxophone and has been a member of Bokkereidars since the summer of 1999. In his civilian life, Trond is the Director of Education in Oppland, and he has been the festival director for the traditional Døla Jazz for several years. After he got a wireless microphone on his saxophone, he is increasingly often on excursions around the venues and on the tables where we play. Trond lives in Lillehammer.
