Info zu Influences III
Influences III is the third album by the Cosmos Quartet, with which they close the discographic trilogy dedicated to the quartets of Johannes Brahms, a work on which they have worked and delved deeper in recent years. AfterInfluences (Seed Music, 2018), their debut album with works by Haydn, Brahms and García-Tomás, the Barcelona quartet released Influences II (Seed Music, 2023) with Brahms (Quartet No. 1), adding Beethoven's Quartet No. 11 'Serioso' and the recording premiere of Octavi Rumbau's String Quartet No. 1. In this third volume that we now present, they accompany Brahms' Quartet No. 2 with WA Mozart's Adagio and Fugue K. 546 in C minor and with a contemporary work: Patras, the two string quartets by Manuel Rodríguez Valenzuela.
“A quartet to keep an eye on” - Luís Gago (El País)
“Here is an ensemble with a personal sound and approach that merits every bit of attention and assistance” - Alfred Brendel
Cosmos Quartet
The Cosmos Quartet
was born in 2014 from the friendship and mutual interests of four young Catalans. Each of them has had an international trajectory as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician, working with professors in the most prestigious schools of London, Paris, Geneva, Köln, Stuttgart, and Michigan.
In August 2014 the Cosmos Quartet participated in the International Summer Academy in Vienna, Austria, receiving coaching and masterclasses from Johannes Meissl, Hatto Beyerle, Miguel da Silva, Anita Mitterer, the Quartet Mosaïques, Patrick Jüdt, Evgenya Epsthein, the Prazac Quartet and the Talich Quartet As of September 2014 they are regularly travelling to Basel where they take lessons with Rainer Schimdt.
Despite the fact that it is a recently formed ensemble, the Cosmos Quartet has already participated in festivals around Spain such as Sant Cugat, Viladrau and Vilafranca del Penedès. They have also performed in several places in Austria, such as Gloggnitz, Reichenau, sharing stage with Shmuel Ashkenasi and Hagai Shaham. They performed at the ORF Kulturhaus in Vienna, where they played a live performance for the Radio.
The Cosmos Quartet has won the Chamber Music Award at the ISA 2014 as well as the Artis Quartet Award for an outstanding performance as a string quartet at ISA 2014.
These four young musicians are united by their passion and interest in learning the art of the string quartet, reviving the traditional repertoire as well as exploring the newest tendencies.
