Info zu Bach / Gould Project
The long awaited release of the Catalyst Quartet's debut album with Azica Records - The Bach/Gould Project. Having been collectively inspired by Bach's genius and the groundbreaking recording of Glenn Gould's 1955 recording of the Goldberg Variations we have decided to explore and highlight this three dimensional relationship. That being our relationship to Bach, the relationship of Bach to Glenn Gould, and Gould's relationship to the string quartet. Through a collaborative arranging process, the Catalyst Quartet will create the first fully realized 4-voiced version of the Goldberg Variations for string quartet.
The project includes performances and a recording of own arrangement of the complete Goldberg Variations paired with Gould's singular composition, String Quartet, on the Azica Records Label.
The Catalyst Quartet:
Karla Donehew-Perez, violin
Jessie Montgomery, violin
Paul Laraia, viola
Karlos Rodriguez, cello
