Die neunmaligen JUNO-Award-Gewinner Arkells veröffentlichen heute ihr brandneues Album „Between Us“. Das Album wurde in LA zusammen mit dem Grammy-Gewinner John Congleton (St. Vincent, Death Cab for Cutie, Wallows) produziert und aufgenommen. Es enthält die heute veröffentlichte neue Single „Next Summer“, zu der es ein fantasievolles Performance-Video gibt. Der Refrain, den man sofort mitsummen kann, erinnert an eine Mischung aus The Killers und Gaslight Anthem, die zum Mitsingen einlädt.

„Next Summer“ ist eine Hymne, die Trost in der Ungewissheit der Zukunft findet. „Wenn jemand Neues in dein Leben tritt, fragst du dich dann manchmal: ‚Wie sah der letzte Sommer für diese Person aus? Und für mich? Und wie wird der nächste Sommer aussehen?‘“, fragt Frontmann Max Kerman. „Dieser Song ist eine Hommage an die Schönheit und das Geheimnis dessen, was vor uns liegen könnte, und eine Würdigung dessen, wie wir bis heute gekommen sind. Der Song ist von Sehnsucht geprägt, aber er ist hoffnungsvoll.“

Eine ausgewählte Gruppe von Fans kam Anfang dieser Woche in den Genuss einer Vorab-Vorschau auf „Next Summer“ sowie neuer Details zum Album, als Arkells die Eisdiele The Big Chill in Toronto übernahmen und mitten im Winter die Essenz des Sommers servierten.

„ „Next Summer“ folgt auf ihre neueste Single „Money“ (featuring Portugal. The Man) und den mitreißenden Song „What Good?“ und ist der erste Vorgeschmack der Band auf neue Musik aus der „Between Us“-Ära.
