Die kanadischen Indie-Rock-Veteranen Metric veröffentlichen ihr neues Album „Romanticize The Dive“.

Metrics unermüdliches Streben nach zeitlosem Songwriting und ihr kompromisslos unabhängiger Ethos haben ihren Platz als eine der wichtigsten und zukunftsweisendsten Bands der letzten zwei Jahrzehnte gefestigt. Die wegweisende Band aus Toronto wurde von den Songwriting- und Produktionspartnern Emily Haines und Jimmy Shaw zusammen mit den Bandkollegen Joshua Winstead und Joules Scott Key gegründet. Obwohl beide auch Gründungsmitglieder der einflussreichen und weitverzweigten kanadischen Indie-Rock-Band Broken Social Scene waren, hatte Metric stets oberste Priorität, und kurz nachdem sie sich kennengelernt und ihre Mission gefestigt hatten, verließen sie Toronto in Richtung New York, auf der Suche nach gleichgesinnten Künstlern. Ihr zehntes Studioalbum „Romanticize The Dive“ knüpft an den freien Geist jener Ära an und beginnt damit, dass Haines den Hörer nostalgisch anfleht: „Lass mich dich zurückbringen, es war der Beginn von etwas...“, bevor sie den Vorhang für eine Band lüftet, die sich jahrzehntelang stets einander und ihren Prinzipien treu geblieben ist. Als Hommage an eine lebenslange Freundschaft vereint das Album zudem das Dreamteam hinter ihrem Durchbruchalbum „Fantasies“ aus dem Jahr 2009 in den Electric Lady Studios in New York. „Romanticize The Dive“ ist zugleich eine herzliche Reflexion über ihre Geschichte, ein feierliches Geschenk an diejenigen, die sie auf ihrer Reise begleitet haben, und eine ausgestreckte Hand an neue Fans – und ein weiterer Beweis für die unerschütterliche Liebe der Bandmitglieder zueinander und ihren unstillbaren Wunsch, sich als Künstler weiterzuentwickeln.
