Info zu KOMOREBI

ADOY, a four-piece synth-pop band from Seoul, South Korea, has released their third full-length album, "KOMOREBI" — a work that marks a new chapter in their career.

Over the nine years since their formation, ADOY has consistently captured the beauty of youth and romance through dreamy soundscapes and a sense of nostalgia. This latest album serves as an ambitious exploration in which the band embraces the cherished memories and internal conflicts encountered along their journey, ultimately rediscovering the musical identity that defines them. Much like *kintsugi*—the traditional Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer and gold—this process of renewal and reconstruction has imbued their signature sound with even greater depth and maturity.

Comprising 11 tracks, the album opens with the pre-released singles "Gooood" and "KONA," drawing listeners in with soothing, mellow rhythms, rich melodies, and evocative saxophone arrangements. While remaining rooted in their established synth-pop style, the band expands their musical horizons through meticulous sonic construction and cross-genre collaborations.

The album also features a series of notable collaborations. For the track "Omega," the band enlisted the expertise of producer and mixing engineer Alex Aldi—known for his work with acts like Passion Pit and Holy Ghost!—to craft a sophisticated and intricately layered soundscape. Furthermore, the musical appeal of the work is further deepened by the convergence of diverse talents—such as on "No Repeat," which features the accomplished Korean singer-songwriter Kim Suyoung, and "ROMI," which showcases the dreamy, crystalline vocals of the band’s bassist, Jung Dayoung.

ADOY
A four-piece synth-pop band formed in Seoul, South Korea, in 2017. The members are Oh Juhwan (vocals/guitar), ZEE (synths), Jung Dayoung (bass), and Park Geunchang (drums).

They describe their own style as "Commercial Indie"—a fusion of the creative originality typical of the indie scene with pop-oriented songwriting, nostalgic melodies, and sophisticated synth textures.

Their 2017 debut EP, "CATNIP", reached the number-one spot on South Korean indie charts multiple times. The track "Grace" was nominated for "Best Modern Rock Song" at the 2018 Korean Music Awards (KMA), and their subsequent EP, *LOVE*, topped the electronic chart on Apple Music in South Korea. In 2019, they sold out a headlining show at the YES24 Live Hall in Seoul (capacity: 2,000), received a Jury’s Special Award at the 28th Seoul Music Awards, and have earned a total of three nominations at the Korean Music Awards.

The band has also established an international fan base by performing at major festivals across Asia—including in Hong Kong, Manila, Bangkok, Singapore, and Taipei—as well as at global events such as SXSW (USA), SXSW Sydney (Australia), the Reeperbahn Festival (Germany), and the Mahorasop Festival (Thailand). Furthermore, they have collaborated with major global brands, including Levi’s, Fender, Jameson, and Samsung Galaxy.

In 2023, they released a remake EP titled *us*, which features contributions from international artists such as Sunset Rollercoaster (Taiwan) and Phum Viphurit (Thailand). Now in their ninth year, the band continues to evolve their signature sound while expanding their reach and gaining support across national borders.
