Info zu A Big Band Narrative

'Big Band Narrative' is a suite and a commissioned work that Vigleik Storaas wrote for Trøndelag Big Band in 2019.

The idea behind the piece is to join in a story, a kind of jazz musical city walk with titles such as “Ila Samfunnet” (The Community), as well as other titles in the same vein.

As always with this type of music, it is important to mix composed and improvised elements, and here there is room for both.

Trøndelag Big Band
(formerly Knut Lauritzen Big Band) has produced 36 concerts, including performances with Dee Dee Bridgewater (USA), Karolina Strassmayer (Germany), James Morrisson (Australia), Jiggs Wiggham (USA), Joseph Doubleday (USA), Jens Wendelboe (USA), Felix Peikli (USA), Viktoria Tolstoy (Sweden) and Gunhild Carling (Sweden). Based on a pool of musicians, Trøndelag Big Band provides work and development opportunities for professional musicians, secures commissions and exposure for composers, showcases young talent and offers jazz experiences to audiences.
