Pianist and composer Rogier Telderman moves audiences with lyrical, clean and energetic playing. Creating stories is what Telderman’s music is about, and it is from inspired storytelling where he chooses his fellow musician. Surrounding himself with the best allowed him to evolve into an adventurous artist and extraordinairy musician on the Dutch music scene. The Rogier Telderman Trio features bassist Guus Bakker and drummer Tuur Moens, with whom they predominantly perform original compositions by its bandleader. Their music can best be described as cinematic, lyrical and up-to-the-minute. It is equally inspired by jazz icons and by genres like minimal, rock and classical music. With an investigative approach and a gift to connect to their audience, the trio moves their listeners with lyrical, clean and energetic playing.
Creating stories is what Telderman’s music is about. It is exactly in inspired storytelling where he wants to meet his fellow musician. With his trio, the compositions are a launching platform from which they fire each other to move outside their comfort zones. They continue to reinvent the stories and explore their boundaries on stage. In December 2014 the trio released their debut album ‘Contours’ on RM Records, gaining attention from over the globe: "An album notable for its varied musical and emotional range as well as for its excellent musicianship” (Bruce Lindsay, AllAboutJazz)
With his investigative approach towards music and a gift to connect to their listeners, pianist Rogier Telderman quickly emerges from the `Dutch music scene. In addition to his trio work and to further develop his skills as a storyteller Telderman plays in various musical ensembles, ranging their repertoire from contemporary classical music (“minimal chamber metal” with TEMKO) to vocal soul (Melphi). Receiving praise with Melphi’s album being named one of the top 10 jazz albums of 2014. Rogier also teaches as a professor of Music Theatre at the Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam.
