Info for A Journey Through Virtual Dystopia

Toronto, ON prog metal outfit Red Handed Denial release their fourth studio album, produced, mixed and mastered by Lee Albrecht (The Devil Wears Prada, Of Virtue, Silverstein). 'A Journey Through Virtual Dystopia' is the band's most accomplished offering to date, both for song composition, musical technique; pushing their melodic and heavy game to a new level as shown on lead single “Parasite”.

“This might be my favorite song we’ve ever done, definitely my favorite on the album,” vocalist Lauren Babic says of the four-minute track. “There’s something special about it. I think it’s a really fresh take on what rock/metal can be by combining EDM and future bass elements. It’s not the heaviest on the album by any means, but there is a heaviness and sense of despair that translates in the vocal delivery so powerfully.”

The band previously released the single “Parasite” and its Alex McFarland-directed video.

“A Journey Through Virtual Dystopia is a testament to my discontent with how reliant we became on technology during the Pandemic,” Babic continues. “We’re reaping the consequences. Mental health has severely suffered. When the world opened, a lot of us struggled and felt different. I feel different too. We get a false sense of security from platforms like TikTok and Instagram. We’re stuck in a cycle of little dopamine releases from every swipe, but we’re not content. When I get away from these apps, I find clarity.”

Lauren Babic, vocals
Tyson Dang, drums
Chris Mifsud, guitar
Dominick De Kauwe, bass
