Info for Infinite Reflections
A whole young generation of musicians brought up on the new, instrumental and abstract hip-hop has carried jazz into a new era. The four London-based musicians who make up Uniri have gone one step further by abandoning the idea of a jazz band and "bedroom production" in favour of collective composing, creating a new look at the new-beat aesthetics, framing it as a road novel set in an unspecified time and space.
Uniri translates as ‘one unified dream’ and is the key driving motto of the project conceived by Chiminyo (Cykada, Maisha), the band's founder and head honcho. The project materialised in his private studio, where he invited fellow jazz musicians Amane Tsuganami (Jorja Smith, Maisha), Al Macsween (Nubya Garcia, Gary Bartz, Kefaya) and Luke Wynter (Nubyan Twist, Golden Mean) to spontaneously compose together.

Chiminyo & Uniri
North London-based drummer and producer, Chiminyo, introduces Uniri, a visionary musical project that embraces the spirit of new beginnings and collaboration.
Uniri, coined by chiminyo, means "one unified dream" and really encapsulates his approach to crafting this extraordinary musical venture. The project materialised in Chiminyo's studio, where he invited exceptional musicians Amane Tsuganami (Jorja Smith, Maisha), Al Macsween (Nubya Garcia, Gary Bartz, Kefaya), and Luke Wynter (Nubyan Twist, Golden Mean) to engage in spontaneous improvisations and collective composition. These ideas, meticulously shaped and produced by Chiminyo became ‘Infinite Reflections’, their debut album, due on Astigmatic Records in March this year.
This psychedelic, synth-laden, groove machine tap into their vibrant influences of the Beat Scene and UK Jazz scene, crafting a distinctive interpretation that is unmistakably theirs. And just as dreams manifest in unique forms, each Uniri experience promises to be an exceptional and reimagined sonic journey. The collaborative nature of the project ensures that each performance is a one-of-a-kind, evolving manifestation of artistic unity.
Chiminyo is a drummer and producer from North London who gained a reputation for his solo project. Using self-coded software, every drum hit and cymbal crash triggers synths and samples, granting Chiminyo unparalleled creative control and liberating his performances from loops, click-tracks, and backing tracks. His groundbreaking solo album, "I Am Panda," garnered widespread acclaim, earning him the Jazzwise Digital award and a Worldwide FM award nomination. This has lead to solo performances at festivals like Love Supreme, Shambala, We Out Here, and London Jazz Festival. His musical prowess has been featured on Radio 1, Radio 6 Extra, Worldwide FM, and Jazzwise. Chiminyo's talents extend beyond his solo work, as he collaborates with prominent artists such as Gary Bartz, Maisha, Cykada, and also delves into film scores, session work, and music production for other artists and bands.
