Info for Entre Las Flores
With her second album "Entre Las Flores", has Jeanne Michard established herself as the French tenor saxophonist to look out for.
Since the release of her first album, Songes Transatlantiques, the saxophonist and composer, whose style has been inherited from American jazz legends such as Sonny Rollins and Gigi Gryce, has continued to expand her audience and achieve ever-greater success. But this seemingly rapid ascent is the fruit of a lot of hard work, the culmination of an adventurous journey that has taken her from one end of the world to the other. From Paris to New York, via Cuba and South America, she has developed a sound that owes as much to bebop as to Latin music, served up by an orchestra as atypical as it is seductive.

Jeanne Michard
(born 6 September 1993) began playing music and the saxophone at the age of 7. Influenced by jazz culture, she also gravitates towards Latin and world music. A regular in jazz clubs and concert halls in Paris (Duc des Lombards, New Morning, Sunset, Baiser Salé, Studio de l'Ermitage, etc.), she also performs in the provinces and abroad, notably in New York for the French Quarter of the Winter Jazz Festival. In 2021 she recorded her first album under her own name with her Latin 5tet, ‘Songes Transatlantiques’, which earned her numerous radio appearances (TSF, France Musique, Fip, etc.) and the group a place on the bill at many festivals and clubs in France.
As both leader and sidewoman, she shares the stage with Rhoda Scott, Felipe Cabrera, Géraud Portal and Johan Farjot, among others, as well as with a number of collectives, including the Paris Jazz Sessions, the Zoot Collectif and Déluge, all musicians who are active and recognised on the French and international jazz scene. She is also involved in a number of world music projects: La Llave (Afro-Cuban pop with Javier Campo), Candela Collectif (salsa), Mambo Legacy (New York salsa big-band), Clube Dos Democraticos (samba). In December 2022, she was voted ‘French Revelation of the Year’ by the editors of Jazz Magazine and Jazz News on the occasion of the release of Best Off 2022’.
