Biography Paul Benjaman Band
Paul Benjaman
Building on the classic Tulsa Sound pioneered by the likes of J.J. Cale and Leon Russell, Paul Benjaman expands their groove-based genre to include most styles of American music with a strong dose of guitar power. Totally Tulsa.
A former student of the genre bending Junior Brown, Paul places focus on groove and original guitar style. His ventures as a bandleader and sideman have placed him all over the musical map, working with a diverse array of artists including Steve Earle, Jamie Johnson, George Porter Junior (The Meters), John Densmore (The Doors), Kris Kristofferson, Rita Coolidge, Gary Busey and many more. His road experience includes tours playing with the Grammy nominated John Fullbright (including the Tulsa Review Tour where John was also a part of Paul’s band) and also an appearace on the Tonite Show with Jimmy Fallon as sideman for the T Bone Burnett produced Secret Sisters.
Multiple tours in Europe and the States continue to preach his take on the Tulsa Sound, and he’s received press in American Songwriter, Paste Magazine and Rolling Stone.
