Lauded by The Guardian for her “dark and focused” voice, “sensational coloratura” and “spectacular singing,” and by The Times for her “fierce, indeed terrifying” portrayals, Beth Taylor is one of today’s most electrifying young mezzo-sopranos.

In the last couple of years, Beth has sung with many of the world’s most important orchestras, such as the Berliner Philharmoniker (Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony at Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, and Mahler’s Eighth Symphony at Berlin Philharmonie and the Salzburg Easter Festival), the Wiener Philharmoniker (Mahler’s Eighth Symphony), and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra (Mahler’s Second Symphony in Los Angeles and on tour in Asia). She appeared with all of Munich’s leading symphony orchestras within just a couple of months: the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra (Mahler’s Second Symphony), the Munich Philharmonic (Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius), the Bayerische Staatskapelle (Das Lied von der Erde at the Munich Opera Festival), and the Munich Radio Orchestra (Karl Jenkins’s The Armed Man). In 2025/26, she made her debut at Gran Teatre del Liceu in Mahler’s Eighth Symphony.

Her distinction as a recitalist has also been recognised with invitations to give solo recitals at the Edinburgh International Festival, the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence and Wigmore Hall.

In the 2026/27 season, Beth makes her debut at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden as Bradamante in Alcina and sings her first Dido in Dido and Aeneas at Temple Music. Beth also performs the alto solo parts in Mozart’s Requiem with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, Schumann’s Paradies und die Peri with the London Philharmonic Orchestra at Royal Festival Hall, Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius with Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Elgar’s The Music Makers in Glasgow and with Orchestre Sinfonietta de Lausanne in Montreux, Mendelssohn’s Die erste Walpurgisnacht with the BBC Symphony Orchestra at Barbican Hall, and Bach’s Weihnachtsoratorium with the Wiener Symphoniker at Wiener Konzerthaus, where she also appears as Cyrus in Handel’s Belshazzar with Dunedin Consort, opening the Vienna Resonanzen Festival. Performing the alto solo part in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, she appears with the Royal Swedish Philharmonic Orchestra in Stockholm and tours with Pygmalion Orchestra to Toulouse, Aix-en-Provence, Antwerp and Madrid.

Beth further cements her stature as one of today’s leading Mahler interpreters, performing his Second Symphony to open the season of the Polish National Opera and with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Royal Albert Hall, his Third Symphony with the London Symphony Orchestra at Barbican Hall and Vienna Konzerthaus, and Das Lied von der Erde at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, with the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie in Saarbrücken and with the Orchestre Français des Jeunes at Opéra de Dijon.

She also sings Mahler’s Third Symphony with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, where she is Artist in Residence during the 2026/27 season and also performs Berlioz’s La Mort de Cléopâtre and in a recital.

Further recitals take her to the Bliss Song Series in Cambridge, Milngavie Music, Leeds Song, Park Avenue Armory in New York City and the Hertfordshire Festival of Music. She collaborates regularly with pianists Marcia Hadjimarkos, Julius Drake, Hamish Brown, Joseph Middleton, Michał Gajzler and Malcolm Martineau

Beth also performs a Mozart concert at Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, a Vivaldi concert at Wigmore Hall, as well as Scarlatti’s Salve Regina and Bach’s Magnificat in Basel with La Cetra.

Her recent opera performances include the title role of La Cenerentola and Bradamante (Alcina) at Opéra de Nancy; Bradamante at Glyndebourne; Arsace (Semiramide), La Cieca (La Gioconda), Erda (Das Rheingold) and Erste Norn (Götterdämmerung) at Deutsche Oper Berlin; Giuliano Gordio (Eliogabalo) at Zurich Opera; Falliero (Bianca e Falliero) and Dardano (Amadigi di Gaula) at Oper Frankfurt; as well as staged versions of Mendelssohn’s Elias in Lyon and Bach’s St Matthew Passion in Basel. She also performed Cornelia in Giulio Cesare at Glyndebourne, with The English Concert at Carnegie Hall and Barbican Hall and with Il pomo d’oro to major European cities including Vienna, Amsterdam, Paris, Madrid, and Barcelona.

On the concert platform she has also appeared as Anna (Les Troyens) at the Salzburg Festival, Berlin Festival, BBC Proms and Berlioz Festival; the Sorceress (Dido and Aeneas) in Madrid, Hamburg, Paris, Luxembourg and Essen; Argia (La Merope) at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam; Ursule (Béatrice et Bénédict) at the Berlioz Festival; and Teseo (Arianna in Creta) at the London Handel Festival.

Beth has collaborated with conductors including Leonardo García Alarcón, William Christie, Josep Pons, Gustavo Dudamel, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Edward Gardner, Andrea Marcon, Ingo Metzmacher, Jakob Lehmann, Andris Nelsons, Ivor Bolton, John Nelson, Rafael Payare, Kirill Petrenko, Raphaël Pichon, Sir Simon Rattle and Sir Donald Runnicles.

A grand finalist of the 2023 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World, Beth Taylor is the winner of the 2022 Elizabeth Connell Award, third prize at the 2019 Wigmore Hall Competition, and winner of the 2018 Gianni Bergamo Classical Music Award. She studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and The Open University, and has worked with Jennifer Larmore, Margaret Izatt and Iain Paton.

Hamish Brown
is a British pianist, arranger, and composer based in London. His highly diverse work as an acclaimed and award-winning collaborative artist spans the genres of art song, chamber music, orchestral keyboard, concertos and theatre.

Over the course of his varied, versatile and imaginative career, Hamish has performed at venues and festivals including Wigmore Hall, Edinburgh International Festival, Royal Albert Hall, BBC Proms, Oxford International Song Festival, Barbican Hall, Cadogan Hall, St Martin-in-the-Fields, Kings Place, Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Buxton International Festival, Hay Festival, St John’s Smith Square, Saffron Hall, King’s Lynn Festival, Lichfield Festival, Heidelberger Frühling, Beethovenfest Bonn, Schubertíada Vilabertran, Klosters Music Festival, Three Palaces Festival, International Lied Festival Zeist, Legislative Assembly of Madeira and The Danish Song Society. He enjoys an especially warm relationship with the Klosters Weihnachtskonzerte (Christmas Concerts) in Switzerland, at which he has performed annually since 2021.

Hamish is currently a band member of Lost Estate’s highly acclaimed immersive theatre production Chat Noir!, a cabaret-style show blending countless genres, where he performs the role of Erik Satie in full 19th century costume. His run of the show lasts from April—September 2026.

Hamish is a highly regarded recital partner of many of the UK’s finest singers. Between 2019–21, his performances as a song accompanist won him prizes at the Kathleen Ferrier Awards, Royal Over Seas League Annual Music Competition, Wigmore Hall Song Competition, Copenhagen Lied-Duo Competition, Mozart Singing Competition and Somerset Song Prize.

As an orchestral keyboard player, he has performed with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Orpheus Sinfonia and Southbank Sinfonia, and has played under conductors including Vasily Petrenko, John Wilson, Vladimir Jurowski, Thomas Adès, Fabien Gabel, Alexander Shelley, Jac van Steen, Nader Abbassi, Brett Dean, Michael Seal and Martin André.

In a similar vein, his deep knowledge and love of the symphonic repertoire has placed him in high demand as an accompanist for numerous conducting courses and masterclasses. In this capacity, he maintains longstanding affiliations with the Royal College of Music, the International Conducting Academy, the London Conducting Workshop, the Purser and Ravì Conducting Academy, MuzikFermata, and cherished individual links with celebrated pedagogues Colin Metters and Martyn Brabbins.

Hamish has recently featured as soloist in the Piano Concerto in A minor (Schumann), the Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major (Mozart), and the Concerto for 2 Pianos, 3 Hands (Arnold). Since 2022, he has been an official accompanist for the Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition.

His performances have been broadcast on BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 4, BBC Four and DR P2 (Denmark). His debut album, a recital disc entitled The Deeps Have Music, with internationally celebrated mezzo-soprano Beth Taylor, will be released in October 2026 (Linn Records).
