This exciting combination is backed by an energetic rhythm section and offers a modern twist of jazz and other musical styles. Cellist Natasha Otero from Cape Town joins world famous alto star Fredrik Kronkvist from Sweden in his new group along with new talents from the contemporary beat, hip hop and jazz scene. With Thiery Marzayne on piano and keys, Simon Peterson on bass and Christopher Hedén on drums, the group creates a colorful experience for the audience where they explore beats, grooves, rhythms and soundscapes from all corners of the world.

The powerful and soulful alto saxophone Fredrik Kronkvist from Sweden is considered one of Europe’s finest alto saxophonists and takes charge whenever he is in the spotlight. Fredrik is an award-winning saxophonist and he has 25 albums out as a leader with the worlds greatest musicians such as Jeff Tain Watts, Gregory Hutchinson, Jason Marsalis, Aaron Goldberg, Reuben Rogers, Orrin Evans, Antonio Sanchez, Adam Nussbaum and others. His work as a lead alto player can be heard in Europe’s leading big bands such as the prestigious Stockholm Jazz Orchestra and in the international Edinburg Jazzfestival Big Band.

Both his writing and improvisational skills are on display when he gives the audience his experience in drawing the heat from a tune with his big sound while combining firm roots in the jazz tradition with elements of modern day music. Fredrik main voice is the alto saxophone but plays equally great on both tenor and soprano saxophones and is an excellent flute player. Fredrik is endorsed by Vandoren Reeds, 10mfan Mouthpieces and is a CrownSounds Records artist. Nominated for a Swedish Grammy for the album Monk Vibes and the album New York Elements feat. Aaron Goldberg, Reuben Rogers and Gregory Hutchinson made the list of best albums released that year in Down Beat Magazine and the album Kronicles feat Jeff Tain Watts made the list of top ten albums of the year in the prestigious Swedish Magazine Lira. As a director and teacher at the leading jazz school in Sweden, the Skurups Folkhögskola, Fredrik has arranged masterclasses with world class jazz saxophonists such as Joe Lovano, Kenny Garrett, Chris Potter, Steve Coleman, Melissa Aldana, Seamus Blake and many more as well as being a lecturer of his own at the prestigious Sibelius Academy and other universities around Europe.
