Keine andere Band hat das Metal-Genre so sehr geprägt und beeinflusst wie Black Sabbath aus Birmingham. Nun neigt sich nach fast 50 Jahren die Karriere dem Ende zu.

Die letzte Tour, "The End", führt Black Sabbath seit Monaten (Support: Rival Sons) über den Globus und am 04. Februar schließt sich der Kreis mit dem letzten Konzert in ihrer Heimatstadt Birmingham. Das letzte Konzert auf deutschem Boden findet am 17. Januar in der Kölner Lanxess Arena statt.

Ozzy Osbourne (Gesang), Tony Iommi (Gitarre), Geezer Butler (Bass) und Bill Ward (Schlagzeug) haben bisher über 75 Millionen Alben verkauft. Seit 2005 sind sie ein Teil der UK Music Hall Of Fame und 2006 wurden sie in die Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in den USA eingeführt.

Die "Ultimate Collection" als Doppelalbum mit 31 Tracks, die an der aktuellen Setlist der laufenden Tour angelehnt sind und zusammen mit der Band ausgesucht wurden. Das Artwork entspricht dem Tourplakat der Abschiedstournee. Alle Songs wurden von Andy Pearce für HighResAudio re-mastered.
