Der Cellist Edgar Moreau spielt mit dem WDR Sinfonieorchester und dem Dirigenten Andris Poga zwei konzertante Werke aus der Mitte des 20. Jahrhunderts: Mieczysław Weinbergs Konzert in c-Moll (1956) und Henri Dutilleux' Tout un monde lointain ... (1970). Beide wurden von dem großen Mstislaw Rostropowitsch uraufgeführt, was eine besondere Verbindung zu Moreau herstellt: 2014 gewann er in Paris den Preis für junge Solisten beim Rostropowitsch-Cello-Wettbewerb. In den letzten Jahren hat das Interesse an der Musik des in Polen geborenen jüdischen Komponisten Mieczysław Weinberg, der von Schostakowitsch gefördert wurde, zugenommen. Der Titel Tout un monde lointain ... beschwört eine ferne Welt herauf, und Dutilleux' fünfsätziges Werk führt uns in der Tat an einen ganz anderen Ort als Weinbergs, denn es ist inspiriert von den sinnlichen Gedichten von Charles Baudelaire. Gramophone lobte Edgar Moreaus letztes Erato-Album Transmission: "Sein Ton ist wunderschön, seine Phrasierung entrückt, und die Intensität seines Vortrags wird durch die Unmittelbarkeit seiner Präsenz im Klangbild noch verstärkt."
