Info for Duality

LP Duo
started as classical trained musicians, but their research and work on different projects brought them music somewhere in between classical and popular music.

As solo musicians and piano duo they won so far over 30 awards at international music competitions. First and Special Prize at the Eleventh International Competition for Contemporary Chamber Music in Krakow (Poland), Third Prize at the Chopin Roma competition of piano duos in 2005 (two pianos category), Second Prize (the same category) and Third Prize (four-hands category) at the same competition in 2006. In 2011 they won prize “for the biggest individuality” at Bialystok Competition for Two Pianos (Bialystok, Poland).

LP Duo was announced as one of the eight best piano duos on the Globe at the biggest world competition Miami Dranoff Two pianos, Florida, 2008.

They were winners of the City of Belgrade Award for creativity of youth in arts, as well as the Annual Award of the Association of the Musical Artists of Serbia (UMUS) for “best young artists”. They won the Bruno-Frey-Stiftung Musikpreis of the Landesakademie Ochsenhausen in Germany, which is usually awarded only to German citizens.

So far they have performed successfully on the festivals, concert halls and tours all over the Europe, USA and in Singapore. They performed on a humanitarian concert for the UNICEF in Germany. In 2014 they debuted at the Carnegie Hall in New York, and in 2015 they performed for the first time at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC.

They performed as soloists with the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, RTS Symphony Orchestra, Belgrade Strings, Orchestra of the National Theatre in Belgrade and Žebeljan Orchestra. LP Duo gave premieres of more than 50 contemporary pieces, among which several world premieres. Many composers have dedicated their music to LP Duo. Their discography encompasses seven collaborative albums released in Serbia, Croatia, Denmark and Netherlands, and the new album “Duality” signed to Universal Music Serbia as their new home label, representing for the first time all music completely written, arranged and produced by LP Duo and performed on their own invented, Hybrid Pianos.

Sonja Lončar is assistant professor of the Faculty of Music Belgrade and Andrija Pavlović is a docent of the NOVA Academy European University in Belgrade and SCEN department at the Faculty of Technical Sciences Novi Sad.

In addition to performing activities LP Duo compose music for theater (Atelje 212, National Theatre in Belgrade, National Theatre in Belgrade, Yugoslav Drama Theatre, BITEF, Little Theatre Duško Radović, Puppet Theatre Pinokio, National Theatre in Sombor, National Theatre in Kikinda, Slovensko gledališče in Celje, Slovenia), film, TV, dance choreography, visual art projects, popular music, and so on.
