Amaranthe

Biography Amaranthe

Amaranthe
Swedish metal fusion band Amaranthe has been making waves with their unique hybrid of power metal, pop music, and eurodance. Their intricate, sonically expansive compositions feature kaleidoscopic synths, aggressive guitars, growling male vocals, and the ethereal pop vocals of female clean vocalist Elize Ryd. These disparate elements fuse together perfectly at the group's jaw-dropping live shows, where their energy and technical virtuosity bring ambitious tracks like "Hunger" and "The Nexus" to life. Fans of envelope-pushing, hair-raising metal won't want to miss Amaranthe on their upcoming tour dates.

Amaranthe formed in Gothenburg, Sweden, in 2008 under the name Avalanche. After legal issues required them to change their name in 2009, they released their demos as an EP titled Leave Everything Behind. After several years of playing shows and honing their sound, the group released their self-titled 2011 debut album. The provocative release was controversial among metal critics for its use of pop melodies and eurodance elements, while open-minded fans almost unanimously loved it -- the album was a chart success in both Sweden and Finland. Their 2013 sophomore album The Nexus was an even bigger success, landing at No. 12 on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart and earning them a growing fanbase in the US. A high-octane live act boasting six talented musicians, Amaranthe continues to blow minds with their intense live shows on tour.
